PDP carries its bulldozer into NC's bastion | Has NC the wisdom to see chinks in its armour? | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 31: The show of strength in Srinagar city by the PDP has not only proved that the main opposition in the state has made inroads in state's politically sensitive summer capital, but it has also proved that the ruling NC is fast losing ground under its feet.
Srinagar city is represented in the 87-member legislative assembly by eight MLAs and all of them belong to the ruling NC. The PDP could not get a foothold in Srinagar during the 2008 assembly elections. The NC has traditionally been a stronghold of the NC and it was here in this city that the NC founder, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was born and his political career reached its zenith.
NC and Srinagar had bec...
| | RTI being used as a tool for blackmailing | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 31: The much talked about Right to Information (RTI) Act has become a tool in the hands of blackmailers not only to harass and humiliate the officers but to settle their personnel scores with them. Though the Act was widely welcomed throughout the country after it came into being after a parliament enactment but it has many flaws as it makes the position of Government servants very awkward who are now answerable to any Tom, Dick and Harry.
After the enforcement of the Act in J&K over two years back the black mailers and exploiters have taken total undue advantage of the Act who force the officers to provide all liberty to them and incase an officer or head o...
| | Employees' unions getting united once again for Aug 5-6 'showdown' | 'Unity' comes as challenge for govt …….? | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 31: Even as the intermittent strikes by state government employees in support of their demands in recent past have not created much pressure on the NC led ruling alliance in J&K but the manner various unions are bracing up for scheduled two day strike from August 5, the government it appears is in for major trouble. Almost all the unions are busy in a meaningful manner in garnering and mobilising support at the district and tehsil levels across the state to make it a 'big show down' against the government.
Notwithstanding the fact that some organisations and unions of the state employees have been going in different directions instead of following the strike...

| | Jammu has to struggle even for petty things, What an irony! | Central University | | Neha
JAMMU, July 31: Students have been boycotting classes since days and urging the authorities to make the Central University functional and appoint its Vice-Chancellor, preferably a local academician of admitted excellence, but with no result. The authorities continue to maintain indifferent attitude towards the very genuine demands for which they have been on the roads.
