SRINAGAR, Sept 5: Beneficiaries of the loot-and-scoot in Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar, allegedly hand-in-glove with officials at Mandi House and Prasar Bharti headquarters in New Delhi, are currently burning midnight oil to ensure that there was no investigation into illegal approval of in-house programmes worth Rs 52 Cr, distributed during last three months of Dr Rafeeq Masoodi's tenure in Srinagar. Private producers and artists have, meanwhile, demanded a thorough investigation by CBI Delhi into the mysterious blaze of August 28th when a number of files were destroyed in record room of DDK Srinagar and one of the officials sustained critical injuries.
Srinagar District Police's lackadaisical initiative in the DDK Srinagar blaze is being widely interpreted as a "hush up" by the fraternity of freelance producers and artists in the Valley. JAMMU: Two youth were today arrested by police at Jullaka Mohalla here for provoking a girl in the locality into committing suicide last month.
Amanpreet Kour had committed suicide at her residence at Jullaka Mohalla on August 20 last. A case in this connection was registered at the Pacca Danga police station.
During investigation, police came to know that two youth of the girl's locality had allegedly created the circumstances that forced her to end her life, according to police sources.
Both of them were today arrested by police and booked under section 306 of RPC.

JAMMU: Police have arrested a man in Poonch for allegedly raping a woman at a secluded place near Nangali on the outskirts of the town.
Police said in a complaint lodged with Poonch police station, Zaheen Akhtar, wife of Mohammad Rashid, alleged that she was raped by a man while she was going home at Nangali.
She identified the accused as Mohammad Mahroof, son of Akbar Hussain, also a Nangali resident.
Acting on her complaint, police arrested the accused and booked him under sections 376 and 341 of RPC.The woman was also got medically examined by police at the hospital.

During the naka, SOG men sitting in Scorpio intercepted a motorbike and two suspected persons were picked up, on specific inputs about their involvement in smuggling narcotics.

Srinagar, Sept 5: The government and its workforce on Monday held a second round of talks in as many as three days over pending demands including release of sixth pay commission arrears but failed to make any breakthrough as over four lakh employees will proceed with the proposed three-day token strike from tomorrow.
