Cong High Command's silence not approval to Omar's assertion on CM's post'
1/8/2011 11:35:25 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 8: Even as the Congress High Command has chosen to maintain silence over Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's assertion on his continuance of the post for full six years, the ruling National Conference leadership must not take it as a nod or approval of what he maintained two days back. Highly placed sources within the Congress said that the High Command has deliberately chosen to remain silent over the issue for now and this should in fact be seen as 'calibrated and calculated' political strategy in matters of dealing with alliance partners where Congress is sharing power with other parties. Sources said NC should not take it as final decision of what it actually maintained itself because the Congress High Command has neither said anything as final about the term of Chief Minister at the time of formation of coalition government in the state not uttered a word after Omar made the assertion. Sources further said party High Command is well seized of the matter and the developments related to comments and remarks of its own leaders and later followed by the...

Muftis and Omar draw swords out of their sheaths
1/8/2011 10:56:58 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 8: When the main opposition, PDP, announced over two month ago that it would be attending the district development board meetings people and political leaders saw in it the signs of a thaw between the PDP and the National Conference. Some started believing that some understanding has been hammered out between the two traditional political foes when Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, appreciated the PDP decision to participate in the board meetings. This impression had been formed after the PDP had adopted tough postures by boycotting the entire Assembly session in September-October in Sringar in protest against the killing of over 100 youths in clashes with the s...

Emergence of PDP unnerving ruling party
1/8/2011 10:56:03 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT srinagar, Jan 8: Emphasizing the role of her party in playing an effective opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said the ruling coalition had plunged the state into the worst crisis of its history. She was addressing a joint meeting of party MLAs, senior leaders and district presidents of Kashmir here today. It's strange, ruling party bemoaning injustice with Jammu
1/8/2011 10:55:04 PM
NEHA EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 8: Is the Congress party with whose support the NC is ruling or misruling the state helpless? Has the Congress leadership finally raised its hands and accepted that the NC would not dispense justice to Jammu and that now it has been left with no other option but to approach the Union Home Minister so that a regional council/regional development board is established in Jammu? Has the Jammu-based Congress ministers finely accepted that the Chief Minister and the other NC ministers are the chief factors in the government and that their role is simply to endorse the Kashmir-centric decisions? If one goes by what transpired on Thursday (January 8) at Mahajan...
