early times report Jammu, Dec 5: The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today announced that the conditions are not conducive for holding the Panchayat elections likely to be held on non-party basis in January next year in the state. Early Times report KATRA/RAJOURI, Dec 5: A large quantity of explosives and items of daily use were today recovered by security forces from two winter hideouts of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit in Mahore and Rajouri areas. Police sources said cops came across a HM hideout during searches in Purja Top forests of Mahore. EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 5: The Kashmir valley and nearby regions reeled under intense cold as the mercury plummeted in the state while Drass recorded the lowest minimum temperature of minus 19 degrees Celsius. Early Times report JAMMU, Dec 5: There has been an almost four-time increase this year in the separatist sponsored strikes and protest demonstrations in Kashmir. While there were 35 hartals in 2009, the number of strikes rose to 131 this year, indicating an almost four-time increase, police sources said. Data compiled by the state Home Department upto November 2010 revealed that there were 131 hartals and 134 processions and demonstrations sponsored by separatists in the state this year. JAMMU: A sadhu was today apprehended by police for allegedly withdrawing Rs 1.30 lakh from an ATM of State Bank of India through fraudulent means. Police sources said a woman of Janipura was regular visitor to the kutia of one Gautam Bawa at Purkhoo.Few days back, when the sadhu demanded money from her, she gave him her ATM card of SBI and asked him to withdraw the cash from her account. Sources said the sadhu used the ATM card and withdrew Rs 1.30 lakh from the account. JAMMU: A papad factory, allegedly manufacturing poor quality product, was today raided at Janipura here and its owner arrested by police. Police sources said Sandeep Kumar, son of Mohan Lal of Rehari, was engaged in the manufacturing of poor quality papad in an unauthorised factory at Janipura for the past sometime. JAMMU: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police was today found lying dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel at Talab Khatkiyan here. Police sources identified the dead as ASI Mohammad Amin, son of Abdul Ghani of Bijbihara. He was at present posted in IRP 14 Bn at Anantnag, Kashmir.
