2/13/2012 12:07:00 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 12: Even while National Conference has initiated a damaged control exercise to ensure better relation with its ally Congress, the latter seems to be in no mood to respond positively as local Congress leadership including MLAs, Ministers and Member Parliament is up in arms to get back its three important portfolios that are presently retained by NC stalwart and chief minister Omar Abdullah. Highly placed sources in government revealed that "stung by rejection of resignation of Education Minister Peerzada Sayeed by Congress high command, Omar Abdullah who earlier divested Sayeed of the Education Ministry portfolio, now in a damaged control exercise reportedly stated that he continues to be in his cabinet". However, the statement could not change the mood of local Congress leadership, which is fuming against the alleged autocratic style of Omar Abdullah. Besides both the factions of Congress including one of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and another led by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), president Saif-ud-Din Soz putting a united face to co...

Congress leaders express solidarity with Peerzada
2/13/2012 12:06:34 AM
NEHA JAMMU, Feb 12: The NC, which is systematically destroying the Congress party in Kashmir and Jammu and doing all that it wants to, has once against taken on the Congress and showed its leadership its place. It has snatched the education portfolio from Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed for his alleged involvement in an unholy episode or on the ground that he allegedly helped his foster son pass the matriculation examination in 2009. Peerzada sent his resignation letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi who, as expected, refused to accept it or refused to send it to the Chief Minister for acceptance and asked him to remain part of the government, thus making a mockery of the whole system. Peerza...

Peerzada's resignation:A case of much ado about nothing
2/13/2012 12:06:21 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 12: The story of resignation of Peerzada Mohd.Syed from the cabinet and its rejection by the AICC Chief,Sonia Gandhi, has ultimately been a saga of much ado about nothing. It looked like a storm in a tea cup. But the entire affair has not reduced the level of conflict between the Congress and the National Conference. Indications are that the Congress will try to get back the portfolio Peerzada held so that it is given to a Congress minister. Will the minister's resignation and its rejection hasten the process of cabinet reshuffle and expansion in Jammu and Kashmir ?Without answering these two questions in clear "yes" or "no" senior congress leaders say that...

She has to sharpen her brows and walk the ramp for a match!
2/13/2012 12:06:05 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 12: Marriage is settled in heavens and solemnized on earth. Thus goes the adage. Is it true? Most of the people believe in it. However, in actual practice the marriage in Kashmir is settled with difficulty by the relatives of the groom. Today Seerat (Character) and Soorat (looks ) of the girl is not that important. The house she lives in, the washroom in her house, parking place, her occupation and skills like driving are considered while settling the marriage. The boy had just arrived from London to find a suitable match. He had desired to meet the girl first. Nobody raised any objection and the girl was taken to a parlour to sharpen her brows. The...

2/13/2012 12:05:26 AM
RUSTAM JAMMU, Feb 12: It is the fundamental duty of any democratically-elected government to strengthen institutions established under the constitution to create confidence among people. Institutions are permanent and governments come and go. The Indian political is no different, notwithstanding innumerable flaws in it, all the fall-outs of act of omission and commission committed by the ruling elite. But the manner in which the arrogant and obstinate Congress under AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have been conducting themselves with a view to wooing and capture Muslim votes in Uttar Pradesh (UP) have left none in any doubt that both th...
