JAMMU, Mar 6: A huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered by security forces from two militant hideouts in Reasi and Rajouri districts Friday night. Official sources said while making searches in Chorgali forests of Mahore in Reasi, police and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) jawans came across an abandoned militant hideout.
Its search led them to the recovery of one Chinese pistol, its one magazine, 14 rounds, 20 rounds of 7.62 mm, a stove, torches and cells. The hideout was later smashed by troops.

SRINAGAR, Mar 6: Thirty six former ultras were today rewarded with jobs in police in recognition for their reportedly valuable contribution in anti-militancy operations across the valley.

JAMMU, Mar 6: For the first time in Jammu and Kashmir, hydro-power projects will be allotted through tenders, a state government official said Saturday.
Earlier, major projects such as Uri, Salal and Dul Hasti were allotted to public sector National Hydro-Electric Projects Corporation (NHPC) through a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Similarly, the 450-MW Baglihar power project was given to a private company, Jaypee, also through a MoU.

JAMMU, Mar 6: After 2009, declared the 'most peaceful year' since the eruption of militancy in 1989, the level of violence has gone up in Kashmir this year.
At least 72 militancy related incidents, including gunfights, grenade attacks and an improvised explosive device (IED) blast, had occured in Kashmir in the first two months of 2010.
The period also witnessed the first suicide attack by militants in over two years when two fidayeen struck Srinagar's nerve centre, Lal Chowk, on January six. New Delhi, Mar 6: Unidentified persons on Saturday pelted a stone at the Delhi-Lahore bus here but no one was injured.
The incident was reported from near a monastery behind Kashmere Gate at around 6:30 am, minutes after the Delhi- Lahore bus, with 35 passengers on board, had embarked on its journey from Ambedkar terminal here to Attari on the Indian side.

Jammu, Mar 5: The special investigating team (SIT) had to abandon BSF Commandant’s interrogation in Zahid Farooq’s case today when he complained of irregular blood pressure. Earlier the commandant denied his involvement in the murder of a Nishat teenager.
