EARLY TIMES REPORT Ahmed Ali Fayyaz SRINAGAR, Apr 16: Police today confirmed the Early Times scoop dated April 13th and declared that Jameel-ur-Rehman’s organisation ‘Sout-ul-Haq’, in coordination with radical cadres of Lashkar-e-Toiba, had assassinated Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith chief, Maulana Shaukat Ahmed Shah, in an IED blast at a mosque in Maisuma on Friday last. During its weeklong exercise, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of District Police Srinagar has discovered that Maulana Shaukat Shah’s intimate relationship with JKLF Chairman, Yasin Malik, besides his role in making Jamia Ahl-e-Hadith (JAH) as a part of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith of India, became the key reasons of his assassinati...

Parties break 'intriguing' silence, begin mudslinging after 3 days
Onus on Omar to prove innocence: Mehbooba hits out at CM
4/17/2011 12:15:19 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 16: After maintaining 'intriguing' silence for three days, the political parties in J&K have now resorted to mudslinging on expected lines against each over the Legislative Council cross voting, an issue that has put the question mark on the 'fidelity and morality' of almost all the parties which were in fray in the polls. A day after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah washed off hands and challenged to prove coalition involvement, his rival PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti retorted that onus lied with him only to prove his innocence. In the vicious circle of castigation rhetoric, while Congress blamed and condemned Panthers Party for supporting PDP, the former slamm...

Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 16: Is money given to or taken by seven BJP MLAs for voting in favour of candidates fielded by the National Conference and the Congress in the just concluded Legislative Council election taxable ?By any yardstick the amount is taxable on two counts. First,it is taxable because it has been earned by the MLAs irrespective of the fact whether it was earned after painful labour or it was a mere gift.Secondly, getting richer by several lakhs of rupees within a few hours cannot be treated as a gift from God.The money that the BJP MLAs have been given does not fall within the limit prescribed by the Income Tax Department for tax relief and that too when their monthl...

Cross-Voting: Seeking fresh mandate the only alternative
Legislative Council Elections
4/17/2011 12:14:23 AM
Rustam JAMMU, Apr 16: The BJP national president, Nitin Gadkari, has summoned the state BJP president, Shamsher Singh Manhas, against whose integrity fingers have also been raised, along with all the 11 party legislators, to Delhi to explain their conduct and the circumstances under which the 7 MLAs crossed votes or voted for the Congress, the NC and the PDP. A report suggests that the shameless erring BJP MLAs, who murdered democracy and violated the people's mandate and the party whip, are least concerned with the public opinion and that while three of them - Lal Chand (Bani), Durga Das (Hiran Nagar) and Baldev Sharma (Reasi) have justified cross-voting, one of the legislators Jagdish Ra...
