JAMMU, Apr 21: If the concern of the PHE and Irrigation Minister Taj Mohi-u-Din over functioning of the pumping stations were to be taken seriously, Jammu areas which have been reeling under acute water scarcity are in for some respite this gruelling summer . But the minister expressed this concern in plush and cozy atmosphere of an 'elite' and highly 'mechanized' conference of the engineers this evening in a hotel. He appeared to mean business when he stressed on having 'control' and proper management of using valves, something which he suggested can ensure regulated if not regular supply of drinking water to various areas in the city.

JAMMU, Apr 21: Nearly 48 hours after at least five Pak-based militants successfully infiltrated into India from the Punjab's Simble Spol area, which adjoins Kathua in J&K, BSF foiled an intrusion bid on the International Border (IB) in Akhnoor sector in the wee hours of this morning.
Police sources said a BSF sentry at the Mal Jodha border outpost (BoP) in Pargwal area of Akhnoor picked up suspicious movement close to the IB at about 3.45 am.
The sentry opened fire in the direction of the suspicious persons, who immediately retreated, the sources added.
