In a season of repeated breach of ceasefire on the borders disturbing the security scenario, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today called for political calm in the Congress as he put a fervent advisory to his party men for an internal truce to face future challenges.
When the top leadership of Congress today gathered to pay tributes to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the partymen fully utilized the opportunity to a give a vent to the ire against their party colleagues. The main function was held here at the Jammu University auditorium.
Listening to the party colleagues with rapt attention along with state Congress president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, the Chief Minister gave a one-liner to all –“let there be a ceasefire in the party. Bury your differences and work unitedlly for success of Congress in forthcoming elections”.

India's External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee Wednesday called on Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and discussed a host of bilateral issues, including Kashmir, while underlining New Delhi's commitment to carry forward the peace process.
Mukherjee, who called on Musharraf in the Cantonment town of Rawalpindi, conveyed India's concerns on cross-border terrorism and stressed that the absence of terror and violence was essential for creating trust and taking forward the peace process, an Indian official said.

Indian army on Wednesday lodged a strong protest with its Pakistani counterparts over Monday's unprovoked cross-border firing at a forward post in Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir, a day after Islamabad gave an assurance that it was committed to maintaining the ceasefire.
"A flag meeting was held at Roshni border post along LoC in Mendhar sector of Poonch district, where India lodged a strong protest over ceasefire violation and unprovoked firing on Monday," defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said.
