SRINAGAR, May 28: Four months after killing two young daughters of a poor labourer in Sopore, suspected militants have gunned down the only bread earner of a poor family, alongwith his father, in Handwara area of North Kashmir. Even as the ruling coalition and almost all other mainstream and separatist leaders were tightlipped over the carnage till late this evening, Chairman of the separatist Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and President of the mainstream Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, did not lose any time in condemning what Kashmir's politicians have ignored with their support of silence in the last over 20 years.
Informed sources in north Kashmir told Early Times that late last evening three persons armed with AK-47 rifles barged into the house of a school-teacher, Manzoor Ahmed Mir, at Bon Watsar in Zachaldara area of Handwara. BARAMULLA, May 28: Dozens of youth this evening clashed with Police and seized an Army vehicle after two persons sustained injuries in a road accident at Pattan, on Srinagar-Baramulla-Muzaffarabad highway.
Reports said that an Army vehicle coming from Baramulla to Srinagar collided with a Tata-407 between Pattan and Babateng. Two persons, including driver of the minibus sustained injuries and the vehicle suffered extensive damage.

JAMMU, May 28: In view of possible militant threats, security at the highly reverred Shri Mata Vaishnodevi cave shrine has been further beefed up with the deployment of CRPF commandoes.
The security had been further strengthened in the Trikuta hills housing Mata Vaishnodevi cave shrine with the additional deployment of para-military forces including commandoes at the bhavan, official sources said. JAMMU, May 28: Two persons were killed and 35 others wounded in separate road accidents here since last night.
A minibus (JK14A/5814) rolled down into a gorge at Padraka in Ramnagar, Udhampur, today as a result of which one person got killed while 35 others sustained injuries, police sources said.

JAMMU, May 28: A man-made hideout of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) district commander Habib Gujjar alias Salman was today smashed by security forces in Bhalna mountains of Keshwan, Kishtwar.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint column of police and army launched an operation in the thickly forested mountains of Bhalna last night.
The troops, who continued searches the whole night, came across the LeT hideout at about 8.25 am Saturday, police sources said.
Its search led them to the recovery of one Chinese grenade, 14 AK rounds, three blankets, one bedsheet, three glasses, two cooking utensils and a water container.
