Omar Abdullah's Truth and Reconciliation Commission | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 28: State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has again spoken of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in order to address the woes of the people who suffered in the State during the last 20 odd years.
The problem with the proposed commission that the State Chief Minister has been speaking about for many months now is that nobody has the faintest idea who should constitute the commission. Has it to be a statutory body to be constituted by the State, has it to be a statutory body to be constituted by the centre or has it to have an international dimension as well?
The problem with Omar Abdullah's hyped Truth and Reconciliation Commission is that nobody exactly k...

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 28: Omar Abdullah's stand on AFSPA and his tweet on Salman Rushdie's Jaipur visit have restrained Congress High Command to entrust electioneering to Abdullahs in Uttar Pradesh.

According to sources in Congress Omar's stand on Salman Rushdie controversy at the Jaipur Litfest and his position of AFSPA were major irritants for the party.

| | Education department breaks record in fund lapsing under CSS | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 28: Though the phenomenon of trailing off whooping sums due to failure in expending in Jammu and Kashmir is not new, the Education department has broken all the records by leaving around 288 crores sanctioned under centrally sponsored schemes unspent during the last fiscal year. The department has also spent only 131 crores sanctioned under state sector out of 450 crores during the same period.
The legacy of lapsing the whooping sums by not spending on infrastructure development in key sectors including social sector in Jammu and Kashmir transfers from one regime to another, however, while going through the records the practice seems to be phenomenal wit...

| | The forgotten Singhal Committee Report | Jammu Youth & Jammu Leadership -- IV | | Neha
JAMMU, Jan 28: The Singhal Committee report was comprehensive. It looked into the complaints of the Jammu youth dispassionately and without fear or favour. It adopted holistic attitude while suggesting measures to safeguard the interests of the youth of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The Committee candidly acknowledged that there existed glaring disparities between Jammu and Kashmir and that the demand of the Jammu youth that all the seats available in the Jammu-based technical and professional institutions be earmarked exclusively for them was both reasonable and justifiable.
As mentioned, the Committee urged the State Government to adopt the admission policy as envisaged in the Jam...

Jammu, Jan 28: Have the seven MLAs,thrown out of the party on charge of defying the party whip by indulging in cross voting in April Legislative Council election, rendered the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir an orphan ?Or has the BJP high command orphaned the seven MLAs who had won the 2008 Assembly election as BJP candidates ?
This question seems to have defied an accurate answer because both sides keep on waiting for the moves of each side.As far as the future of the seven MLAs is concerned the ball is in the court of the High Court and the speaker of the Assembly. The speaker has issued a notice to both sides to explain their position. This itself indicates that there are n...
