| | | | NC-Cong coalition Government alien to aam aadmi | | | |
Bashir Assad
JAMMU, Jan 7: Even as the Omar Abdullah led National Conference-Congress coalition Government has completed five years in office and will, for all its probabilities, complete its full term , the performance of the Government is so disappointing that corruption has reached a peak. One would recall that at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2012, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah startled everybody by stating that it is not possible for the alliance Government to wipe out corruption. This clearly indicates that the Chief Minister himself has belied all his assertions because in the last four years, as the Chief of the alliance Government, he kept harping on promises to wipe out...
| | | | NC continues 'bragging' on achievements, Congress in silent mode | | Realization on 'unfulfilled' commitments haunting party....? | | | ET Report
JAMMU, Jan 7: Come January and the Omar Abdullah led coalition Government tires itself for days together in highlighting the performance of coalition of the year that passed as also the 'achievements' it counts cumulatively for the years gone during which it ruled the state. January first week which marks the anniversary of the NC-Congress regime in the state makes a hammering of such progress reports in a euphoric manner till all media spaces get occupied by the lengthy press notes and colourful advertisements decorated with pictures of veterans from UPA too. It is somehow all NC show as ally Congress does not appear to be competing in the race of 'bragging and boasting', no ma...

| | | | ‘Kangaal’ Govt averse to austerity measures | | | |
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 7: The cash starved Government which has no money to pay the bills of contractors and take forward the developmental works seems reluctant to take austerity measures.
Not only this every day almost 80 percent Government vehicles enter the airport either to drop or pick up the relatives of Ministers and bureaucrats. It has also been seen that Government vehicles are used by the families of Ministers and babus for holidaying and shopping.
There are no austerity measures taken by the Government, neither Ministers nor bureaucrats with respect to travelling in Government vehicles.
Though the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) impact is seen in few states where officials a...
| | | | Artisans deserve a better deal | | Not by assurances alone | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 7: The Director Handicrafts during her visit to various centres at Samba and Kathua raised hopes by promising stars to the artisans who work hard to create masterpieces. She told them that the Government would leave no stone unturned to ensure their betterment.
The reality however is very harsh especially for the artisans. It has been observed that the artisans receive peanuts for the hard efforts they put in. The artisans who work for the private firms get exploited in the name of employment. At times when the pieces created by them win awards, the poor artisan is hardly mentioned. He is always a suffering unsung hero.
The condition of artisans working at...
