Wajahat in his true colours, wants Delhi to grant autonomous status to J&K | NEWS ANALYSIS -- I | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 16: “Will simply withdrawing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and conceding the demand of the state assembly of 2002 for greater autonomy bring closure (read end of unrest in Kashmir)? Although it might be reasonably argued that these are components of what might be arrived at a compromise, equally true is the fact that these issues have little to do with the present demands. Their induction into the present debate was at best a red herring. And as for the demand for autonomy, the last thing that the agitating youth have been demanding is a return of their state government to the powers enjoyed by it in 1953, the gist of the autonomy demand of the National ...
| | It’s a white lie: Where is the so-called 1952 Delhi Agreement? | STARK REALITY | | RUSTAM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 16: The Union Home Ministry has reportedly prepared a list of documents for the perusal of the newly appointed interlocutors for J&K. Some of these include the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, the Instrument of Accession, the 1952 “Delhi Agreement” and the 1975 Accord. Fair enough. The interlocutors do need to study all the relevant documents relating to Jammu and Kashmir. However, the question is: Where is the so-called 1952 Delhi Agreement everyone talks about without applying his mind? There exists no such agreement as the 1952 Delhi Agreement. It is a figment of imagination.
There is proverb “speak a lie a hundred times and it becomes a truth.” ...

| | Can angry people forgive the perpetrator? | Of CM’s TRC | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: At a time when New Delhi is seriously considering punishment to the erring men in uniform, a few persons, some of whom write for local newspapers, have started flirting with the idea of constituting the Truth And Reconciliation Commission (TRC) at the behest of the Chief Minister. The idea was put forth by the Chief Minister last year but had to abandon it for unknown reasons. Truth about Kashmir has always been bitter but in contemporary Kashmir truth is not only bitter, it is harsh as well. In such a scenario what can a TRC achieve?
What does a reconciliatory commission mean by the way? Reconciliation means forgetting the past and forgiving the per...

| | Trans-world Muslim University: Congress again commits a wrong | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 16: Congress is a national party. It cannot afford to have a truck with those whose agenda is divisive; who want to give a particular type of orientation to the state’s polity and society; who want the people to hold aloof from modern education and turn to such seminaries that trained persons in theology and other old-fashioned disciplines. But the local Congress, instead of defeating such regressive forces, seems inclined towards those who still believe in medieval concepts and conservatism.
Take, for example, what the Congress ministers and the Congress legislators, without any exception, did on the floor of the assembly on the last day of its session. They...
