JAMMU, Oct 17: Asian Development Bank has rejected Jammu and Kashmir government's request to finance four major developmental projects, two each in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar, costing Rs.519.5 crore.
Bank has not only rejected the government's request but also given detailed reasoning for the same. It has raised serious objections over the detailed project reports (DPRs) which were prepared and submitted to it by Jammu and Kashmir government's much hyped Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) for perusal and later on for funding.

JAMMU, Oct 17: Three sisters in their infancy, aged between one and three were abandoned at Jammu railway station on Saturday.
It was an alert sweeper identified as Gurdev Singh who saw three children sitting at the railway platform near the computer room with no elder around them. He took the abandoned babies into his custody and has been taking care of them ever since.
"After finding the girls, I have been taking care of them till now…. I provided water, milk and food to them. I didn't sleep the whole night and have been attending them. I had a couple of blankets, I gave them to the children," said Gurdev Singh.

Jammu, Oct 17: Jealous of his growing popularity, Geelani's opponents accuse him of initiating Track II diplomacy. According to them, Geelani was the first to initiate bilateral dialogue and that too at track II level with Ram Jethmalani and Wajahat Habibullah.
Similar allegations were leveled by former Huriyat (M) chairman, Moulana Abbas Ansari in March this year. Ansari said the un-divided Hurriyat Conference authorized Syed Ali Geelani to hold talks with Wajahat Habibullaha and Ram Jethmalani. Jammu, Oct 17: In a bid to streamline the rising traffic chaos, Jammu and Kashmir IGP (Traffic) Hemant Kumar Lohia said the signal lights will be installed on roads of twin capital cities of the state by the coming months of December-January.
''Following rising traffic problem in twin regions of the state, it has been decided to install the signal lights to streamline the system and hopefully it will be done by the months of December-January,'' the IGP told reporters while addressing his maiden press conference here this morning.
Lohia said the issue was taken up with the authorities concerned and the project has been okayed while the work would soon start on it.

| | Mystery shrouds cop's death | | | KATRA: A CRPF cop was today found lying dead under mysterious circumstances in a camp of 126 Bn at Mahore in Reasi.He was identified as B Chenna Naik. Police sources said when Naik did not wake up in the morning for his duty, some cops in the camp went to his barrack to enquire about him.
However, when they found him lying unconscious in the bed, they brought the matter to the notice of their seniors who immediately got him shifted to hospital.
In the hospital, he was declared brought dead by doctors. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the cops who were accompanying it.

| | Cops arrested for murder of brother-in-law | | | JAMMU: Two policemen, who happen to be siblings, were arrested by police after the duo allegedly murdered their own brother-in-law after they had an argument with the latter in Batiya villagee of Poonch district.
The accused identified as Shahnawaz, Nawaz along with their father Mirza Din entered into an altercation with Mohmmad Sadiq, 55, in Batiya on Friday night, police sources said.
The deceased Sadiq, who was allegedly a polygamist, was brother-in-law of Shahnawaz and Nawaz.
Sadiq , who had married two women, was attacked with iron rods by the brothers and died on the spot, the police added.
The duo was arrested from Poonch and Jammu last evening.
