| | | | Blue eyed defy transfer policy in Jammu, Rajouri, Udhampur | | Nepotism galore in PHE department | | | Sumit Sharma
Jammu, Feb 11: Nepotism and favouritism has become the order of the day in the Public Health Engineering department in Jammu as many blue eyed have glued on to their positions much beyond the tenures fixed for Government employees in the transfer policy of the Government.
The fact has been brought to the fore by an RTI query. The admittance of violation of transfer policy by PHE in twin hilly districts came after ET exposed the same by PHE City Division No. 1 Jammu, a couple of weeks ago in which ET reported with evidence that out of 179 officers/officials posted in this particular division, chosen few had managed same postings for the last 10 years and had been enjoying...

| | | | `Omar should have pulled out after Guru hanging' | | Playing champion of Kashmiri sentiment? | | | ET Report
Jammu, Feb 11: The Chief Minister in an attempt to save his chair by sounding sympathetic to hanged Afzal Guru has triggered another controversy. The BJP has criticized his interview to a private news channel in which he questioned the wisdom of judiciary. He even called upon executive and judiciary to prove that the hanging was not selective.
Chief Minister knew the hanging was about to come. He had though expressed his reservations but for playing a champion of 'Kashmiri' sentiment, he should have categorically stated to the UPA that he would pull out of the Government if it happened.
It could have sent the message that Omar was really serious and sincere to the cause. He ...

| | | | Ideological dichotomy leaves NC's Jammu leadership dumb | | Afzal Guru's hanging | | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 11: The Jammu unit of National Conference (NC) is not commenting on Afzal Guru's hanging and seems to have toed the line of its working president Omar Abdullah, who criticised Central Government on the issue.
NC leaders of Jammu have preferred to stay quiet and not issue any statement that could bring any dichotomy within the party to the fore.
In Jammu, NC leaders present themselves as nationalists but whenever they face a situation where ideologically they differ from party leadership and can't express their sentiments, they strategically prefer to remain silent.
On Sunday, when the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attacked Central Government on hanging Af...
| | | | Under design Pak plays down Guru's hanging | | | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 11: For the second time, during the last three months, Islamabad and the print and electronic media in Pakistan have played down execution of the Parliament attack convict, Mohd Afzal Guru in Delhi on Saturday. The establishment in Islamabad and the print and electronic media in Pakistan had avoided giving any hype to the execution of a Pak national, Ajmal Kasab, in Delhi on November 21, on charge of his involvement in the deadly terrorist strike in Mumbai in 2008 in which about 166 people were killed.
It seems that official and non-official agencies in Pakistan preferred to play down the two events to avoid attracting bigger criticism from India and other...
