3/3/2010 11:50:53 PM
ABID SHAH EARLY TIMES REPORT NEW DELHI, Mar 3: The Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani has, indeed, been let down because of his own website. His today's move in the Lok Sabha to pin down the Government on US angle to Indo-Pak talks was already known because of his aggressive blogging through his website. And, thus, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could easily take on his BJP rival today in the House. It was Advani who had earlier written on his website that the February 25 Foreign Secretaries level talks between India and Pakistan took place because of the "US nudge". He had reflected more on this in his website www.lkadvani.in and this was soon picked up by media. So no anticipatio...

Research comes to stand stillstill in JU's Chemistry Deptt
3/3/2010 11:48:48 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 03:  The Chemistry Department's "deteriorating" condition notwithstanding, Jammu University (JU) vice-chancellor (VC), Prof Varun Sahni and his courtiers talk of making the campus a hub of  academic activity and creating an atmosphere conducive for "quality research work". It seems there is too much talk and not enough work being done on the campus. The JU authorities' assertions have only proved to be starry-eyed and impractical so far as these lack results. The appropriate example in this context could be that of the chemistry department which sans three major equipments -- Powder X-ray Diffractometer, Cryogenic System and Beta & Gama Ray Detectors. While...

CM remarks on Indo-Pak relations fine, but on J&K
STARK REALITY
3/3/2010 11:44:37 PM
RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 3: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s March 2 Legislative Council remarks on Indo-Pak relations could not be questioned. He was right when he said that “smooth relations between India and Pakistan have good effect on our state and bad relations create an adverse result”. However, one cannot completely agree with his statement that the “Indo-Pak relations have direct bearing on J&K”. The reason is simple: J&K is an integral part of India and whatever happens here have direct bearing on the national psyche. The other reason is that it is not just J&K that suffers due to the Pakistan-sponsored terror. The entire nation has been suffering due...
