JAMMU, JUNE 8: Consumer Affair and Public Distribution (CAPD) department's ration scam worth crores of rupees surfaced during scrutiny of the records seized by Crime Branch sleuths in a raid that was conducted in the office of Assistant Director CAPD office here in Nehru Market today.
The raid was conducted following the complaint was lodged with the Crime Branch Jammu. Giving information sources said that the report lodged with Crime Branch under FIR NO 20/2009 alleged that ration under Public Distribution System meant for people of Above Poverty Line and Below Poverty Line was sold in open market with the active nexus of CAPD officers and dealers.

BARAMULLA, June 8: A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Sopore in this north Kashmir town today, official sources said.
They said gunman fired upon constable Manzoor Ahmad Najar at main chowk Sopore with a pistol from very close range.

srinagar, June 8: Army Chief General VK Singh on Wednesday arrived in Kashmir valley on a two-day visit amid intelligence reports suggesting presence of large number of militants at launching pads across the Line-of-Control (LoC).
