Krishna's support to Omar deepens mystery on Congress backing to Kashmir CM | Behind the veil | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 15: If not anybody else it is the Minister for External Affairs, S.M. Krishna, who had, after a gap of about a fortnight, come to the rescue of Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, when he on, Friday, said that there was "nothing objectionable" in his (Omar's) statement in which he had stated that Jammu and Kashmir had acceded and not merged with India.
Krishna has not stopped here when he replied to questions posed by a group of newsmen. He explained it by saying that Jammu and Kashmir had acceded to India the way the Mysore state had acceded. He said like Jammu and Kashmir the Maharaja of Mysore state had signed an accession treaty. He went further to dilate on the matter by informing the media that he (Krishna) is a citizen of Mysore.
Fortunately Krishna did not say anything whether he is a citizen of India also. Two questions emerge out of the revelations of Krishna. NEW DELHI, Oct 15: Terming J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's accession remarks as unobjectionable, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said that the state of Jammu Kashmir has only acceded to India
"I don't think Abdullah has said anything objectionable. It is a fact that Jammu and Kashmir has acceded to India just like Mysore did," Krishna said here when asked for his reaction to Omar Abdullah's recent remarks.
Krishna stressed that like in the case of Jammu and Kashmir, the Maharaja of Mysore also had signed an accession treaty. "And I am a citizen of Mysore," he said.

Jammu, Oct 15: Leh district is all set to hold elections for 24 segments of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh tomorrow. The district administration has deployed additional security forces stationed at all 224 polling booths across the district for holding free and fair elections.

Jammu: In a late night head-on collision between an Inova cab and a truck on the national highway at Bali Nullah near Udhampur, about 65 km from here, a man was killed and six others were wounded critically. The dead and the injured were travelling in the Inova, police sources said.
