Kashmir issue echoes in LA | ‘It is a political problem and must be solved through political means’ JK is an integral part of India: BJP, PP Geelani is relevant: NC | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 5: The Kashmir issue echoed in the Legislative Assembly today with all the political parties and independent legislators saying it was a dispute to be settled. The Bhartaya Janata Party (BJP) and Panther's Party (PP), however, reiterated their known stand on Kashmir. "It is an integral part of India", they said. A National Conference leader surprised all by stating Geelani was highly relevant in contemporary Kashmir.
The CPI (M) leader, Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami said: "It (Kashmir) is not a three month old problem. It has roots in the history. "Had our bodies been reddened with blood once, we could think of forgiving the rulers. But, it seems bloodshed, killings and destruction and Kashmiris are inseparable", he said.
In a highly emotional tome Yusuf said whether the bullet came from Islamabad or New Delhi, it was always targeted at Kashmiris. "We heard several warning shots during the past two decades. The shots shook our conscience but we failed to act."
"I cannot give life to those who got killed. Five lakhs or ten lakhs cannot compensate a fath...

Musharraf admits Pak trained Kashmir terror groups | | | agencies
Washington, Oct 5: In first such candid admission by a top Pak leader, former military ruler Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan had trained underground militant groups to foment trouble in Kashmir.
Musharraf's remarks came days after he announced his return to active politics from London where he has been living in self-imposed exile.
"The underground militant groups to fight against India in Kashmir were indeed formed," Musharraf told German magazine Der Spiegel in an interview.
Asked why Pakistan trained militant underground groups to fight India in Kashmir, the former president said Nawaz Sharif's apathy to the Kashmir issue was one of the reasons, so was the fact that ...

| | Pak ultras in wait for opportune moment to enter | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 5: Hours after Musharraf admitted that Pakistan was training and pushing militants into the state to keep the pot boiling, army today said ultras were waiting for an opportune moment to cross over into Jammu and Kashmir to give impetus to the hitherto flagging militancy.
Various groups of militants were camping along the Line of Control (LoC) in wait for an opportunity to sneak into the state, an army officer said.
These militants belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), he added.
"Militants, positioned along the LoC, are making desperate attempts everyday to cross the border. The...

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 5: Reports are emanating from New Delhi at regular intervals that the powers-that-be in the South and North Blocks have virtually made up their mind to remove Governor NN Vohra and replace him with some political person. No one in the state, except perhaps the PDP leadership, which appears quite close to Governor Vohra, would regret his removal from the state. For, Vohra perhaps is the only Governor of the state in whom the people of the state in general and the people of Jammu and Ladakh and displaced Kashmiri Hindus in particular do not repose their confidence. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the State Raj Bhawan under Governor Vohra has ...
| | Who is Geelani to oppose division of J&K? | News | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 5: The other day, RSS ideologue and former spokesperson of the RSS M.G. Vaidya suggested trifurcation of the state as a viable solution to end the unrest in the Kashmir Valley and empower the people of Jammu and Ladakh to shape their destiny within India. He put forth this solution in his personal capacity, and not as an ideologue of the RSS. One can understand the reasons behind this clarification. One of the reasons is that the RSS, which had on the eve of the 2002 assembly elections in the state floated Jammu State Morcha (JSM) to fight for separate Jammu state, took a complete U-turn at the behest of the confused and ambivalent BJP and abandoned the stateh...

Pardeep Singh/ Sandeep Bhat
Jammu October 5
Begging in public places from street corners, outside schools and colleges, shopping malls, public transport and even though religious places has become a common view these days. This common urban problem, has taken alarming dimensions in even the smaller city like Jammu.
Begging, the profession or menace is increasing, day after day, in the city of temples, perhaps because of its being a large pilgrim destination of North India.
The holy places are enormously becoming the begging hubs, elsewhere in the country as well, where a large number of beggars scattered throughout the premises could be found, some begging alms and o...
