Police figures show a slight increase in domestic violence cases, mostly relating to matrimonial disputes and family squabbles. Harassment for dowry too adds fuel to the fire.

Sources informed Early Times that total number of NGOs registered for getting foreign funds across country has declined from 22993 in 2010-11 to 21804 in year 2011-12, but in Jammu and Kashmir the number has seen increase.
