Dr Mustafa says PDP is power hungry
10/8/2011 11:55:24 PM
Early Times Report srinagar, Oct 8: The Additional General Secretary and spokesman of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Dr. Mustafa Kamal said Mehbooba Mufti's outburst against Delhi establishment yesterday is a manifestation of the frustration that has beset PDP which is power hungry. He said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his entire brigade have always indulged in manipulative politics to grab power. Dr. Kamal needs to answer the simple question as to which party is under the scanner for selling political berths for money? Ignoring completely what happened at the CM's residence on September 29 and has been happening in the state ever since, the NC's new additional general secretary ha...

Yusuf ‘custodial’ death
10/8/2011 11:54:43 PM
Early Times Report srinagar, Oct 8: A vital witness in the Haji Muhammad Syed `custodial killing' case has created `reasonable doubts' about involvement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his father Dr Farooq Abdullah in the case. The witness identified by a local news agency as Muhammad Yusuf Bhat of Ganderbal said: "I paid money to Yusuf for getting a MLC berth. However, I do not know whether it was for Omar Abdullah or Dr Farooq Abdullah", he said. This statement, according to legal experts is sufficient o save the Abdullahs. The prosecution has to prove its case beyond any reasonable doubt. And, it fails to do so; the benefit of doubt goes to the accused. If Abdullahs are ever put ...

BJP-NPP's silence over killing of shah draws flak
10/8/2011 11:53:57 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: As the killing of NC worker Mohd Yousf shah has rocked the state with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demanding resignation of chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for the involvement of official machinery in the killing of NC worker and involvement of the party in cash for vote scam, the stoic silence maintained by BJP and National Panthers Party legislators on the floor of the house has exposed the two parties before the public. No doubt that the person killed was the worker of NC but seeing the gravity of the matter all opposition parties were supposed to corner the Government on the issue and demand its resignation as the needle of suspension was pointing towa...

10/8/2011 11:53:35 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: Gradually Islamabad has, despite assurances from China, its all weather friend, on continued military and non-military aid, started succumbing to the pressure mounted on it by Washington. The result has been willingness of the Pakistan's spy agency, the ISI, to cooperate with the American spy agency, the CIA, in hunting Al Qaeda activists. Reports reaching here from across the LOC have revealed that the ISI sleuths have been helping the CIA in its counter operations against the Al Qaeda activists. These reports said that the ISI operations resulted in the arrest of a number of Al Qaeda activists, operating in the Afghan-Pakistan border belts, and allowed t...

BJP in different 'directions' over custodial death row
Wants Omar to quit or CBI inquiry into incident …..?
10/8/2011 11:53:09 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: In contrast to clear and straight line adopted by almost all political parties in opposition over the controversy erupted in aftermath of NC worker's death in custody last week, it is only BJP which appears to be going in different directions and not adhering to one stand over the issue. While the Legislators of the party chose to maintain silence for first three days ,notwithstanding the fact the incident set the House into storm when the session was on, the state leadership, its spokesperson started giving statements only when the issue assumed volcanic proportions in terms of the political clamor against the NC, which is in the centrestage of whole cont...

Ending discrimination with Jammu
KASHMIRI HEGEMONY
10/8/2011 11:51:26 PM
Neha Jammu, Oct 8: It is now almost clear that the Jammu's established political leadership has abandoned the people of this marginalized and grossly ignored province for reason not difficult to fathom. One of the fundamental reasons is its insatiable lust for crumbs, which it gets after flirting with Kashmiri leadership and dancing to its anti-Jammu tunes. How else should one interpret the utter failure of the Jammu leadership to up their ante against the Congress-led UPA Government, which inaugurated Rs 1000-crore training-cum-placement package a few days ago for the Kashmiri youth with a view to holding them aloof from the separatist politics. It is obvious that the Congress-led governm...

Political Corruption
10/8/2011 11:50:57 PM
Rustam Jammu, Oct 8: PDP president and Leader of Opposition, Mehbooba Mufti, who, along with others in her party, has unleashed a relentless struggle aimed at cleansing the state of "political corruption", is quite unhappy these days. She is unhappy because the ruling coalition in general and NC in particular didn't allow her party in the assembly to discuss the circumstances leading to the death of a NC worker on September 30 and expose those indulging in what she calls "political corruption". She is also not pleased with the New Delhi's attitude towards what has been happening in the state for days now. She has, in fact, accused New Delhi of making common cause with and shielding those w...
