Top bureaucrat Iqbal Khanday's son dies in road accident | | |

Srinagar, May 18: Senior IAS officer and Principal Secretary Agriculture Production Mohammad Iqbal Khanday's only son, 27-year-old Saajid Iqbal, died in a road accident when he was driving back to Srinagar from Anantnag at around 1.00 a.m last night.
SP Awantipore, Mohammad Irshad, told Early Times that Sajid's Alto JK02 A-8244 appeared to have swerved to extreme end of the highway and crashed against a poplar tree, killing him on spot. He seemed to be traveling alone in the silver colour Alto. His dead body was now at Police Station Pampore.
DIG South Kadhmir Shafqat Watali, who is husband of Khanday's sister-in-law, was among the first who reached Pampore early this morning. Arrangements were immediately made to send a state helicopter to get Khanday from Chandigarh. He was reportedly in the Punjab capital to pursue a case CBI has chargesheeted against him in 2006.

JAMMU, May 17: Supreme Court appointed central empowered committee (CEC) concluded three day visit to the Kashmir region on Tuesday and is now on two day visit to Jammu region, beginning from Wednesday.
