JAMMU, July 5: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah while felicitating the people on the birthday of Guru Hargobind Singhji said Sikhs were an integral part of Kashmiriyat.
Omar said Sikhs had shared moments of joy and grief with their Muslim brethern in the Valley for enturies.
"The 20 years of disturbance and uncertainty in the Valley didn't shake the bonds of love and brotherhood between Sikhs and majority community but these got further cemented", he said while addressing a congregation at Gurdawara Chatti Padshahi in the Summer capital today.
The Chief Minister said that the pluralistic ethos, cultural diversity, secular amity and brotherhood are the specialty of the State. "Kashmiriyat denotes tolerance, mutual amity, respect to each other's faiths and equal opportunity to grow. It represents love, brotherhood and trust", he said adding that Hindu, Muslim and Sikhs have equally contributed to safeguards the high principles of Kashmiriyat.

Jammu, July 5: The Union Ministry of Rural Development is said to be unhappy over the tardy progress several schemes, pertaining to augmentation of drinking water supply to rural habitation in Jammu and Kashmir.
This unhappiness is stated to have been conveyed to the state Government with reference to the allocation of over Rs.400 crores on schemes aimed at pro-safe drinking water to the rural habitations in Jammu and Kashmir.

JAMMU,July 5: After a man was declared brought dead by doctors at the GMC hospital (GMCH) here, a clash erupted between his widow and other family members.
Police sources said Paramjit Singh of Rehari was shifted by his family members to the GMCH after he complained of pain in the stomach.
But when the doctors said he had already died, heated exchanges erupted between Paramjit's widow and other family members.
While the woman alleged that he was murdered by his family, the latter, in a counter allegation, said he was poisoned to death by her.

KATRA,July 5: A Vaishnodevi pilgrim was killed due to heart failure while returning from the holy cave shrine of the goddess in Trikuta hills Monday night.
