Omar reiterates Pak 'role' in Kashmir, says satisfied with Obama visit
11/9/2010 11:02:51 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 9: In what can be seen as toeing hardline mainstream politics over Kashmir issue, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reiterated that Pakistan has a role in Jammu and Kashmir and it cannot be negated by any amount of criticism. Apparently not the one to be bothered by unabated criticism and strong reactions over his remarks on Accession of state with India, the Chief Minister today said there is no politics about what he says and that he firmly believes that Pakistan has a 'role' in resolution of Kashmir issue which will pave way for defusing the crisis in Kashmir. Omar said this while speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a function in connection with Kissan Mela in Jammu. He expressed his satisfaction over the four-day India visit of the US president Barack Obama and the statements he made in the Parliament as well the joint statements made by the two countries. " The statements were very positive ….these have certainly laid the strong foundation in the bilateral ties that will take the healthy relationships forward", Omar said. Ho...

11/9/2010 11:02:38 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 9: Who is playing the shots in J&K? Is it the National Conference that is heading the government or is it the Congress without whose support Omar Abdullah cannot retain control over the office of Chief Minister even for a moment? Has Omar Abdullah crossed all the limits in his desperate bid to retain control over his communal constituency in Kashmir? Is Congress playing the role of "B-team" and willingly allowing Omar Abdullah to unsettle the settled issue of J&...

Obama praises India for sunshine law, DD official spits on it in public
11/9/2010 11:02:23 PM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 9: President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, was all praise in his speech in the Parliament on Monday for Manmohan Singh's India over the transparency in governance and implementation of Right to Information (RTI) Act in this country. However, treating Jammu & Kashmir as "a state of special status", where the Indian systems should be brazenly discredited to erode common man's faith, Director of Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar, Dr Rafeeq Masoodi, has been treating the sunshine law with contempt from his day one in office. Even the Deputy Director General of Doordarshan, incharge North India and an appellate authority for RTI, has failed to d...

11/9/2010 11:01:32 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: China has refused to change its stapled visa policy on Kashmir. Bit it also makes an exception for artists and sports persons from Jammu and Kashmir. Bishambhar Dass, a sculptor from Jammu and Kashmir, was the only Indian artist at a symposium in China last month. But there was another exception as Dass had a stamped visa on his passport, in contrast to China's policy of issuing only stapled visas to Jammu and Kashmir residents. "Some of the Kashmiri doctors were denied visa for visiting China. I was scared that even my visa would be an issue. I got visa because I was an artist and artists know no universal boundaries," he said. Two months earlier, a gro...
