Soz arriving today, Cong asked to put up united face
2/11/2012 11:54:51 PM
With J&K PCC Chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz arriving in winter capital tomorrow, the senior leaders having loyality to two camps have been directed by the High Command to put up a 'united' face and do not indulge in any move that would convey the signal that party's own house is not in order. Sources said Prof Soz , who is scheduled to address a rally at Marh would hold closed door meetings with all the senior leaders and ministers of the party to discuss the present political situation vis-à-vis its ties with NC. The PCC Chief would also listen to what senior functionaries and other leaders have to say with regard to the recent developments in the government. Sources said some of the ministers , taking strong exception to the way NC and the Chief Minister has conducted himself in trying to portray and project Congress ministers as corrupt, have contended that they would not attend the cabinet meetings till their 'prestige' would be restored. ...

2/11/2012 11:54:31 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 11: Post Peerzada resignation development that was swiftly followed by 'non acceptance' by the party high command, the NC-Congress coalition is on the edge and the already existing fissures have only deepened and widened between the allies. While NC and Chief Minister who despite being head of the Council of ministers was 'deliberately' sidelined by Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed by directing his resignation to party president and the latter not accepting it, finds his prestige having been lowered, Congress camp too is not comfortable with all what is going on.. The trust deficit within both the alliance partners has reached its peak with some leaders hav...

"I will do nothing to harm the interests of the party and I will continue to work for the development of the state", he told reporters here today. Speculations had run high that the future of Peerzada had come to an end after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met the senior Congress leaders in ...

Cong asserts by retaining Peerzada as minister
2/11/2012 11:53:29 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 11: The Congress party by not accepting the suggestion of the chief minister Omar Abdullah to sack Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed from the council of minister has asserted its supermacy. The party by this action has made it clear to its coalition partner- National Conference- that decision with regard to the functioning of the party can be taken by itself and not by the coalition partner. As things stand now, even though, the Peerzada has been divested of his portfolio of school education, he continues to be the minister, though, without portfolio. The talks are doing rounds that Peerzada may be given another portfolio after the Budget session of the State asse...

Senior National Conference senior leader and former spokesperson Dr Mustafa Kamal while terming the resignation move as an absolute violation of state constitution told that the congress minister undermined the Chief Minster's chair.'' Nothing against Peerzada, Chairman BOSE in CB report
Report kept confidential deliberately to let media create hype
2/11/2012 11:53:04 PM
Bashir Assad JAMMU, Feb 11: At a time when Congress President Sonia Gandhi asked the Education Minister to continue and returned his resignation without accepting it, the actual contents of the report of Crime Branch submitted to the chief Minister Omar Abdullah reveal that nothing substantial was found against the Minister and Chairman of State Board of School Education (BOSE) Shiekh Bashir Ahmad. In fact the authenticity of so called preliminary report of joint Secretary, (KD) dated 25-12-2009 leaked to the Press conspicuously (the only document that essentially became the basis of the news stories against the Education Minister and Chairman BOSE) has a big question mark. At the same t...

Trifurcation The Only Way Out
2/11/2012 11:51:22 PM
Neha JAMMU, Feb 11: The "NC would not appreciate the needs, aspirations and compulsions of the people of Jammu province because it is essentially a Kashmir-based and Kashmir-centric party". This is what an overwhelming majority of the people here in this grossly ignored and politically marginalised Jammu province believe. In fact, this majority believes that "no Kashmir-based party would ever dispense justice to the people of Jammu province because the Kashmiri leadership believes that their empowerment would not only mean an enormous loss to Kashmir, but would also mean the defeat of those who wish to give a particular type of orientation to everything in this province, which is opposed t...

2/11/2012 11:51:04 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 11: The growing stranglehold of radical fundamentalist on various organs of the society in Kashmir Valley during last few years is taking a shape which only blind can ignore. Even the very small number of Christians living in the Valley, which as per local estimates is not more than 400, is coming down through a silent process of internal displacement due to fundamentalist intimidation. As per the knowledgeable sources within the Christian community living in the Valley, around 200 of this small population have already shifted to safer places outside the Valley. The intimidation and constant mental attrition to which this small miniscule group of Christians ha...
