JAMMU, Feb 1: Kashmiri leaders in and outside the state government have intensified their activities to put pressure on New Delhi so that it concedes their demands. Some of them have even gone to the extent of asserting that it is the people of the state, and not New Delhi, who are the chief determinants and that it is they and they alone who had the authority to decide their own political fate. | | Need to end parallel centers of power in Congress in J&K | | | ET Report
JAMMU, Feb 1: It is a case of either parallel authorities or the case of authority within authority in the state unit of the Congress. What is amazing is the way that the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir has not been able to project a single leader as the supreme boss dring the two crucial decades since 1989.
In fact party workers believe that after Mufti Mohd.Sayeed quit the Congress to join the Jan Morcha led by former Prime Minister, V.P. Singh,in 1987 the Congress was left with no other stalwart who could keep the party flag flying.
There were other senior leaders, after Mufti Sayeed left the Congress, who could have handled the party affairs firmly but they were not allowed t... | |
