Jammu, Mar 11: The 'biggest' achievement of NC led coalition government termed rightly so a historic step, is conducting of Panchayat polls in the state which would be followed by Local bodies elections anytime soon. But the success of this 'historic' exercise has come albeit with a heavy cost and brunt on the exchequer. The Election Department of the state for the purpose of smooth conduct of the polls over the last three years has reemployed dozens of officials and granted them extensions after extensions -all for the sake of 'utilising their experiences' in smooth conduct of polls.

The norms of tenure and duration fixed by the government in the state has been thrown to winds brazenly in the Election Department of the state where over two dozen of officials have ...

| | Kashmir-like situation developing in Rajouri... | Act before it is too late | | NEHA
JAMMU, Mar 11: Situation in the already communally-sensitive Rajouri city is highly volatile. Anything can happen anytime. Certain elements in the majority community, according to reports, are out to create in the area "Kashmir-like situation so that the members of the minority community flee from the city" like the members of the minority community quit their homes and hearths in Kashmir in early 1990 to escape their physical liquidation and religion and culture and protect their dignity. The nation just cannot afford genocide of the minority community or religious cleansing from the highly strategic border belt. For, results would be disastrous if any such thing happens.

| | Every Tom, Dick & Harry poking nose in Kashmir & threatening India | Indifferent Indian Foreign Office | | RUSTAM

Its only interest is in Afghanistan because it feels, and rightly, that a stable and Taliban-free Afghanistan is in the larger interest of India. India would never want a situation where Pakistan is in a p...
