AHMED ALI FAYYAZ JAMMU, Mar 1: Ruling National Conference’s fourth-time MLA from Iddgah, Chief Whip in Legislative Assembly, Chairman of a House Committee, member of several House Committees and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s Advisor, Mubarak Gul, who is holding the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister, today declared on the floor of the House that he would resign if it was proved that Doordarshan’s Rs 18 Lakh project had been allotted to him during his term as MLA. He claimed that it was a “three-year-old assignment” when he was neither CM’s Advisor nor MLA. Mr Mubarak Gul’s statement came in reaction to some PDP MLAs’ demand that he should be dismissed as MLA for having contravened provisions of J&K Constitution and J&K Representation of Peoples Act by way of submitting his empanelment application and a programme proposal to Doordarshan and thereafter appearing in an interview as a private producer and getting Rs 18 Lakh project allotted in his own name. EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Mar 1: Authorities on Monday issued a warning of moderate to high-danger avalanches in several parts of Kashmir as the State witnessed a fresh spell of snowfall and rains. The warning issued jointly by Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) and Disaster Management Cell of the government said high-danger avalanches could occur at Keran and Furkin top in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. It said moderate avalanches could occur at Razdan top, Z-Gali, Dhudi, S.M. Hill, Machhil, Gurez, Niru, Buduab, Sonamarg, Gaganger, Drass, Bhimbat, Kaksar and Minamarg. Infiltration bid foiled on LoC

EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 01: Amid ceasefire violation by Pakistan, an infiltration bid was foiled on the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sub-sector of Mendhar in Poonch this evening. Official sources said Pak army opened fire from their Daku and Battal outposts on Kranti, Kirpan, Deep and Ghora forward Indian positions at about 6.30 pm to fascilitate infiltration. They fired RPG rockets and used machine guns, the sources added.India retaliated and put troops all along the LoC on high alert to foil any infiltration bid by the Pak-based militants. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 01: A Havaldar of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) was found lying dead under mysterious circumstances in his barrack in the border Turtuk area of Leh today.Official sources said when Ram Lal, a JAKLI Havaldar, did not come out of his barrack at Gorge Turtuk, his colleagues went inside to enquire about his health.However, when they found him lying unconscious, they immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him brought dead. Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 1: To counter stone pelting effectively, the police have acquired sophisticated guns that will `deactivate’ the stone pelter for fifteen minutes or so to ensure his arrest.   According to informed sources, the police have acquired sophisticated guns to fight stone pelting. The gun, sources said, does not fire bullets. “But when its trigger is pulled, a light beam hits the target and deactivates it for quite some time.”   The sources, however, could not say whether the newly acquired gun fires laser beams.
