PHE minister's claim rebutted! NHPC mulling legal course, approaching Union Power Ministry | Water tax on hydroelectric power projects | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
JAMMU, Mar 24: Bluntly rebutting claims made by Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Public Health and Engineering (PHE) Taj Mohi-ud-Din in media on March 2, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has decided to take legal course as well as approach Union Power Ministry against enactment of Jammu and Kashmir water resources (Regulations and Management) Act-2010.
The revelations are contrary to what Minister for PHE Taj Mohi-ud-Din claimed on March 2. Speaking to a local Kashmir based newspaper; Taj had claimed "The companies have agreed to pay user charges. Executive Director, NHPC, called me on phone yesterday and agreed in principle that corporation will make the payments. State power Development Corporation too has responded positively,"
He had further said "NHPC will be paying Rs 37 crore for water usage from November 12 to December 31 2010 while as the charges due to JKPDC are Rs 27 crore for the same period. JAMMU, Mar 24: A scene was today created at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, after the widow of DSP Varinder Jaipuria, who was killed few years back in an encounter with militants, was allegedly humiliated by police in full public view.
The DSP's widow Shabnam Jaipuria, who lives in police GO quarters at Gulshan Ground here, is an information department employee.
After her alleged humiliation at the hands of cops, the woman was

Jammu, Mar 24: When the Army Chief, Gen. V.K. Singh, landed in Srinagar on Monday on a two-day visit it was his second such visit during the last 35 days. Earlier he had paid a two-day visit to the troubled state on February 15.

JAMMU, Mar 24: An army jawan today allegedly shot dead by his colleague near a forward outpost close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch.
Police sources said over some trivial issue, sepoy Chitra Bahadur Goren of 25 Gorkha Rifles was allegedly shot dead by his colleague Romesh Bahadur Sahi with his INSAS rifle.
The incident took place near the forward Sagra Balnoi outpost, the sources added.

SSP, Samba, Israr Khan said acting on a tip-off, police raided M/s Jamuna Alloys at Bari Brahmana and recovered from there 22 pipes, each measuring 20'x8", of a government department.
