Jammu, Mar 24: Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has once again started giving prominence and priority to political affairs in J&K vis-a-vis the key decisions within his party which happens to be the main ally of ruling alliance government in the state. After 'granting' sub district level hospitals from the kitty of Centre in capacity of Union Health Minister, Azad is said to be set to 'dole out' more such 'favours' as such all for the welfare of the people of his home state, which may help him politically in the war of nerves and game of one up manship within his own party.
Relieable sources said apart from district level hospitals Azad is may grant favours from his own ministry to the state by way of sanctioning Health Sub Centres . The Health Sub Centres would be granted in bulk across the state , nearly 500-600 , which will go a long way in benefitting the people of the state in Health Sector as funds would be provided directly from the Centre for these sub centres for building up infrastructure and other requisite facilities for running them smoothl...

Political Scene Future of NC | | | Rustam
Jammu, Mar 24: National Conference is the oldest political formation as far as Kashmir is concerned. Like the Congress, it has its workers and supporters in all the towns and villages in the Valley and its adjoining areas in Ladakh and Jammu province. But basically its support-base is confined to Kashmir and to a particular religious community. There was a time when the National Conference would sweep elections in Kashmir and dominate the state's political scene. No Kashmir-based political group could compete with it. As late as in 1996, the National Conference established that it was a force to reckon with in Kashmir. It captured almost all the assembly seats. In Jammu also, it cap...

Early Times is possession of documents that link Union Minister and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah and his political secretary, Muhammad Aslam Goni to the scam. Aslam also happens to be the chairman of the JKCA.

| | Broaden your vision, Ruhullah tells youth | Govt jobs are meant for Ministers' relatives! | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 24: The Pashu Palan minister today said that the government could not provide every one with a government job. He was addressing a book release function organized by the Animal Husbandry Department.
The minister is right. The government cannot give jobs to everybody unless he/she happens to be a relative or kith or kin of a worker of the ruling party.
Statistics show that most of the public sector undertakings run in loss. Some of them have been wound up. Thousands of persons have lost their livelihood in the process. Surprisingly nobody from the government has bothered to go into the reasons behind the collapse of public sector undertakings.

| | On brink of environmental disaster! 'Timber mafia, land grabbers plundering forest wealth in J&K' | | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
Jammu, Mar 24: Timber mafia, land grabbers have been plundering the forest wealth and if the way forest cover is being reduced is any indication, Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness environmental disaster by the year 2025.
Life is likely to get difficult for future generations. Courtesy: Ineffective state machinery which has allowed loot and plunder of forest wealth by land grabbers and timber mafia. Besides, the lurch for commercializing every inch of available land including the forest land which is available freely has added to the woeful situation.
If the situation is allowed to deteriorate as it looks likely, Jammu and Kashmir would be battling environmental di...
| | What happened to interlocutors' report? | | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 24: Four months have passed since New Delhi's nominated interlocutors submitted their report to the Home Ministry. The report, most probably, is gathering dust in the Home Minister's office as he seems in no hurry to consider the `crucial report'.
The people of Jammu Kashmir have been indifferent to the very process from the very beginning. Surprisingly the Interlocutors lost patience. Their chief even sought intervention of former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayed. However, he too could not help.
The reluctance of New Delhi to consider the report, according to a Hurriyat activist, has vindicated the stand of the separatists. Pertinent to mention the ...
| | Plight Of SCs In Jammu BSP for trifurcation of Jammu & Kashmi | | | Neha
Jammu, Mar 24: The state unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has again upped its ante and demanded trifurcation of the state into Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh States. It is obvious that its demand enjoys the support of Mayawati, former UP Chief Minister and national president of the BSP. It's not a new demand. It was during their meeting with the New Delhi-appointed three interlocutors last year that the BSP leaders had demanded trifurcation of the state. In fact, after their meeting with the interlocutors they had released their memoranda on the subject to media persons.
The most significant demand put forth by the BSP leaders before the interlocutors not just sought the division of the...
| | Increasing trade links with India fruitful for Pakistan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 24: The news that Pakistan plans to import petrol and other food items from India is expected to further ease tension between the two neighbours that have spent more tan six decades in conflict and in an atmosphere of mistrust and misgivings. During the last over two years a sincere attempt is being made by powers that be in New Delhi and Islamabad at reducing the trust deficit. The two sides have covered some distance but still they have to work hard, after shedding mistrust, till they reach the goal, that is nothing except abandoning the path of confrontation needed for promoting cordial ties. Once the two sides stop behaving like sworn enemies once can exp...
