TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Let separatists prove their mettle
CM vindicates ET
5/8/2011 1:01:18 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 7: When Early Times wrote on August 1, 2010 that the government should not ban Hurriyat's chalo programmes, nobody heeded the suggestion. Ten months down the line, the Chief Minister vindicated Early Times stand. "Detaining Geelani was a mistake. I made him a hero." "Geelani was allowed to reach Batmaloo Friday to lead funeral of Osama with a purpose. Had we stopped him, he would say that thousands of people would have assembled to participate in the prayers." Inspite of being a strong bastion of Geelani, the funeral prayers attracted a few hundred persons. Last year, the government was scared of Hurriyat's Chalo programmes. Whenever the separatist conglomerate urged the people to reach a particular place, the government always responded by clamping curfew. Hurriyat's chalo programmes have added to the confusion. The government, it seems, has not learnt any lessons from the 2008 agitation. In response to Hurriyat call, five lakh people (as per rough estimates) assembled at Pampore at the Rasam-e-qul (last rites) of slain Hurriyat leader, Sheikh Ab...

BJP high command to announce 'action' against MLAs individually......?
Conduct of few MLAs registered as 'anti party activity'
5/8/2011 1:00:55 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 7: With replies of the 7 suspended MLAs of BJP having been sent to the Disciplinary Action committee and other concerned quarters, immediate action in whatsoever form is unlikely from high command. The latter instead of announcing a cumulative 'penultimate action' may do so individually, implying one by one each MLA, after thoroughly scrutinising and scanning the details of the reply each has given. Sources said the high command of BJP is thinking on lines of 'going steady' in the matter of 'tough action' envisaged earlier , though that is almost final but the grind is unlikely to fall on all the 7 MLAs simultaneously. Sources further said expulsion from the ...

Pritam Sharma, Gen. Secy. Kranti Dal, Jammu:
5/8/2011 12:44:27 AM
Curtailment of yatra by 15 days is a big conspiracy on the part of those who at the held of the affairs and as such are playing with the sentiments of particular community, which should not be allowed at any cost. People belonging to various faiths are not party in curtailment of the yatra, they want peace and development on all fronts and no confrontation. ...

An Important shrine of the Hindu faith is visited by Lakhs of devoted pilgrims every year from all corners of the country and abroad, two forgot their worldly desires and petty pursuits and give themselves up to meditation. For a devout Hindu a visit to the holy cave of 'Amarnath' is as auspicious as to any other shrine in the country. The annual yatra should be allowed for full two months and no curtailment as such creating hurdles one way or the other way for smooth functioning of yatra is no...

We are peace loving people and don't believe in any confrontation. There is no need to curtailment in yatra period and should be allowed for full two months. The need is to see that yatries coming from far-off place are comfortable and are not put to any trouble, by taxi wallas, shopkeepers, tentwalas, ponywalas etc etc. The decision taken by Baba Amarnath Yatri Niyas (BAYN) to start yatra as per tradition from June 15 is a welcome step and the authorities should not put any hurdles in smooth ...

Dogras seething with anger, likely to sever ties with Kashmir
5/8/2011 12:38:37 AM
Neha Jammu, May 7: The relations between the Dogras of Jammu province, who constitute almost half of the state's population and occupy more than 88 per cent of the state's geographical area, and the Kashmiri Muslim leadership were never cordial. The Kashmiri leadership was responsible for the estrangement between it and the Dogras. Several factors contributed to this estrangement and consistently embittered the relations between the two. The factors were ideological, political and economic and it had become evident even at the time of the accession that the Dogras and the Kashmiri Muslim leadership would always clash or tread diametrically opposite paths. The Kashmiri Muslim leadership wo...

Flash back
5/8/2011 12:38:09 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 7: May 8 is an important date in the history of Kashmir. On this day eighty-one years ago, two cousins launched a formal movement against the Dogra regime. The decision was taken during the rasam-e-qul of a lady at Mohallah Haji Rather, Kachgari Masjid in Fateh Kadal area of Sher-e-Khaas. Moulvi Bashir Vakil and Munshi Naseer discussed the miserable plight of Kashmir in the lawns of erstwhile Teachers Training School at Magarmal Bagh near Khar Maidan which is now called exhibition grounds. They decided to do something for the people. After discussing the idea with Bashir's father, Moulvi Abdullah Vakil they set up a reading room at Fateh Kadal. Bashir was a t...

Will it succeed in cashing on the congress blunder when it sided with the National Conference on the issue of the revocation of the Dogra certificate procedure ?Will the BJP,that has suffered bruises following the cross voting episode during the recent Legislative Council election,be able to regain its lost ground by launching agitation against the Congress on the revocation of the Dogra certificate order ? Don't draw a parallel between 9/11 and 26/11, says US
Crossing The Line
5/8/2011 12:36:55 AM
Rustam Jammu, May 7: The arrogant United States (US), which considers itself to the world master, is crossing the line ad insulting the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The US yesterday refrained from drawing a parallel between 9/11 and the deadly Mumbai terror attacks and virtually expressed its unwillingness to support similar "hot pursuit" Indian effort as was done by the US Special Forces in Abbotabad (Pakistan) on May 2 to catch and kill Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington D. C. "I don't want to speculate too broadly about an operation that was clearly unique in the history of the US and the history of the wor...

5/8/2011 12:36:24 AM
JAMMU: Over the revocation of Dogra certificate by the government, JKNPP women wing has asked the Jammu politicians to wear bangles for not fighting for the cause of Dogras. "Under such circumstances, it will be good for them to wear bangles and sit at home," she asserted. Anita said the silence maintained by the politicians, including ministers, here amounted to betrayal with Dogras. It also showed that they had totally surrendered before NC and separatists, she added. She said he...
