Will Speaker admit this one on Sept 15 crucial meeting…….?
9/14/2011 12:37:10 AM
Saroj Razdan Jammu, Sept 13: At a time when all eyes are set on the meeting of all parties Speaker of J&K Assembly Mohammand Akbar Lone has convened which may formally admit resolution on Afzal Guru, BJP is all set to pose a fresh dilemma and challenge by seeking acceptance of its resolution on reclaiming the territory of Kashmir 'illegally' held by Pakistan. The resolution is similar on the lines of one that stands unanimously adopted by the Parliament in 1994. BJP senior leader and MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria has submitted this resolution to the state Assembly for inclusion in the business of Legislative session beginning on September 26. The thrust of the resolution is to get this passed by J&K House and recommend strongly to Centre to mount pressure on Pakistan to cede the areas back to India which are its integral part. This is for the first time a resolution on this subject will be brought by any party in the J&K House. Even as the BJP MLA has submitted the resolution within stipulated deadline, in the wake of what he has sought to be resolved by the House - reclaiming ...

Where will Wani place Sher-e-Kashmir?
9/14/2011 12:35:03 AM
Early Times Report Devsar (Kulgam), Sept 13: Unwittingly maligning the towering image of Sher-e-Kashmir, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, the Minister of State for Home, Nisar Aslam Wani Tuesday said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has the distinction of being the first ever chief Minister to seek political solution of Kashmir issue in a democratic spirit to establish permanent peace and normalcy in the state. He was addressing public meetings at Devsar and Qazigund this morning. Wani needs to study the history a fresh. Does he know why Sher-e-Kashmir was arrested and dethroned on August 9, 1953? Fortunately some members of the constituent assembly are still alive. Wani better go to them...

India, Pakistan don't have shared destiny
Bartering J&K?
9/14/2011 12:32:37 AM
Rustam Jammu, Sept 13: Jammu's political class and the arch rivals of the Congress at the national level, including the "ultra" nationalist BJP, have, it seems, abdicated their responsibility towards the nation. The BJP at the national level do make some noises to convince the nation that it is committed to protecting and promoting further the unity and integrity of India and opposing policies calculated to befriend Pakistan and its agents in Kashmir, but does nothing whatever in concrete terms to give effect to what it sometimes say to demonstrate that it is a party with a difference. In fact, one can cite a number of instances to prove that the Congress, which is the root cause of all t...

Jammu Against Discrimination
9/14/2011 12:32:12 AM
Neha Jammu, Sept 13: The ongoing fierce debate on the "solution to the Kashmir problem" has also triggered a similar debate among the Dogras of Jammu province. The Early Times tried yesterday to judge the mood of the Dogras and find what could satisfy them. Believe it or not, but it is a fact that everyone spoke in one voice and said that "if you wish to forge a lasting peace in the troubled state and end the age-old discrimination with Jammu, you have no other alternative but to grant the Dogras the power to legislate". Again, believe it or not, but it is a fact that everyone advanced very cogent arguments to make their point. What exactly did they mean when they demanded power to legisl...

Appeal to Hon'ble speaker by Shri Chaman Lal Gupta BJP MLA
9/14/2011 12:28:37 AM
Sir, I had raised a question during the last session of the state assembly seeking a reply from the government regarding the decision to stop government advertisements to the daily Early Times published from Jammu. I had also spoken about the highhandedness of the government and its arbitrary, whimsical dispensation regarding distribution of official advertisements to the various newspapers published in the state. Despite repeated requests, the state government did not come forward with any reply to my question and the result has been that through its decision to ignore my question the state government has covertly accepted that it does not have a reasonable answer to my question. Hon'b...
