‘Mantra' at High level Performance review meet: Work out effective coordination
Omar asked to take Cong on board in every matter, avoid conflicts
1/6/2012 12:12:25 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Riding high on the wave of completion of three years of coalition in J&K led by the party, the NC high command has been directed by New Delhi to work out a better coordination with main ally Congress and take its leadership on board on the major decisions in order to avoid further conflicts over issues of governance and other matters and allow coalition to work smoothly and effectively. This was conveyed to father son duo -Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah amid ample indications that the Congress High command has for now chosen to put off the issue of change of guard in J&K, albeit with a note of caution that irritants and bickering have to be completely avoided by taking the ally as equal partner in all matters. Sources said in the high level meeting that lasted around 40 minutes, even as Chief Minister along with his father submitted the performance report of J&K coalition to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the latter is understood to have asked to sort out and settle the matters that are pending including the exercise of effe...

1/6/2012 12:10:41 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: In the New Delhi high level meeting of coalition partners while the J&K PCC chief Prof Saf-u-Din Soz emerged as an 'empowered' man in terms of the trust party high command has reposed in him by allowing him to take major decisions and directing the ruling NC to take the leadership on board , it became abundantly clear that former chief minister and union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is completely out of the loop of J&K affairs. Azad was conspicuous by his absence in the meeting which among others from Congress side was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, J&K Incharge Mohan Prakash and Prof Soz. By authorizing latter to take decisions in accommoda...

Sordid saga of administrative anarchism, New Delhi's overbearing approach
Omar completes three years
1/6/2012 12:10:23 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's speech to mark completion of three years of his government was loaded with adjectives, phrases and vehement claims of his government having changed the face of state. One would not like to argue with man on the highest chair of the state but facts are facts and more importantly, they are sacred. Omar organized a grand festive function in the laws of civil secretariat and if political observers are asked, they would tell you that the young man wanted to assert and tell everyone around that New Delhi has allowed him to stay for the next three years. The function made it ostensibly clear that Omar knows his detractors are inc...

‘Development requires tangible measures’
All paper work Mr Sadhotra
1/6/2012 12:09:55 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Member Legislative Council and senior National Conference Leader Ajay Sadhotra today boasted of achievements of Omar led government. He talked about Sher-i-Kashmir Employment & Welfare Programme for the Youth (SKEWPY), Public Service Guarantee Act and devolution of powers to Panchayats. SKEWPY has come under severe criticism from the people. Even National Conference workers have criticised it. According to them, it hits hard at the honour, dignity and integrity of the unemployed youth by providing doles to them. The unemployed youth have rejected it as a cruel joke cracked by the Chief Minister in the name of voluntary service allowance. The `gigantic ec...

Oppn terms 3 years performance of Omar Govt total dismal
1/6/2012 12:09:26 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Though Omar Abdullah led coalition government boasts of its three years performance in office exuding confidence of completing full six years term, the opposition parties dismiss the tall claims of Government and term its performance on all fronts totally dismal. The NC's betenoire Peoples Democrat Party (PDP) while dismissing claims of coalition said that the lawlessness is on top and there is nothing like government in the state. The Party accused the NC led coalition of negating all the peoples friendly programmes and policies initiated by Mufti Mohammed Syed led coalition in the state during its rule. The widow and old age pension schemes have been wi...

‘Lighting lives’ with darkness, three years of Govt's achievements
1/6/2012 12:08:51 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Courage, Vision and Dynamism, the three buzz words used by the State government to highlight its three year long achievements has been drawn over a full, multi-coloured advertisement page, but hardly would anyone miss the subtitles of the 'achievements highlighted' without noticing the one under the caption 'Power & Electrification-Lighting lives across the State'. On a day the achievement is highlighted, police had to open in the air in Baramulla town to disperse yet another people's protest over the frustrating electric power scenario in the town. Chairing a meeting of the PDD officials and those from the civil administration, the Chief Minister, Omar A...

Chirag Taley Andhera?
1/6/2012 12:08:32 AM
Syed Junaid Hashmi Jammu, Jan 5: Home ministry has brutally violated Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's self-carved and much touted transfer policy for government employees. Ministry, which is headed by Chief Minister himself alongwith Minister of state (MOS) Nasir Aslam Wani, has made mockery of cabinet decision and government order issued by GAD in July 2010, according to which administrative heads of all departments including cabinet ministers were asked to adhere to new transfer policy. The order is available on the website of General Administration Department (GAD). However, Home ministry decided otherwise and on the pretext that the order has been issued for all the departments barr...

Congress destined to lose popular support in Jammu
Delhi With Omar
1/6/2012 12:05:23 AM
Rustam Jammu, Jan 5: Now that Omar Abdullah has been allowed to rule the state after he completed three years in office, it is clear that the Congress high command, besides the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, is with him and not with the local Congress leadership. It is obviously a moment for Omar Abdullah to celebrate his victory over those in the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir who had worked quite hard during the last few days to carry conviction with the party high command and see in the driver's seat some Congress leader. The general view of the bulk of the local Congress leadership was that Omar Abdullah would be replaced on or before January 4. Their view was based on what...

Watch less tower in Lal Chowk mocks at Govt
1/6/2012 12:04:11 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Srinagar, Omar Abdullah once said, is the face of Jammu Kashmir. Many people contest this. Anyways, if it is accepted for Omar's sake, Lal Chowk's importance must also be accepted. This historic chowk forms he face of Srinagar. The Prime Minister of India addressed people from here in 1948. Sher-e-Kashmir recited the Persian verse Mun tou shudum tou mun shudi (I become you and you become me) to express his love for India. This is where Sheikh shocked the people after signing the accord in 1975. It is also witness to other historic events. However, it was ignored for unknown reasons. The Omar government instead concentrated on Lal Chowk's Clock Tower. Pe...

Mayawati throwing out corrupt ministers, BJP hugging them
Party With A Difference?
1/6/2012 12:03:16 AM
Neha Jammu, Jan 5: This is the way the word ends, not with a bang but with whimper. Till the other day, the people believed that the BJP was committed to a strong, effective and independent Lokpal and that it was also committed to eradicating corruption, notwithstanding its vague stand on the Anna Hazare's Jan Lokpal Bill. The people by and large appreciated the role of the BJP in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha during the debate on the official Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill and accused the Congress of creating chaos in the Rajya Sabha in order to avoid voting on it. But this has now become a story of the past. The BJP leadership's political conduct in Utter Pradesh has left everyone shocke...

NC led regime is three years of failures: Mehbooba
NC’s eight decades fortress valley was never painted black as Omar dispensation has done
1/5/2012 10:43:30 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jan 5: lambasting the Omar led coalition which is riding on the tall claims of the achievements of the coalition which came to midway today, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today regretted that Omar regime had failed to convert the unstinted support of the centre and his coalition partners into welfare of the state. Addressing a workers meet of Srinagar District here today she said “with the blood of hundreds of innocents on its hands, Altaf of Bonyar being only the latest, the coalition government’s celebration of three year rule looks obscene”.
