JAMMU, Mar 21: For Madhu Sharma, the last about eight months’ period have proved to be nothing less than an ordeal as her husband Narottam Kumar Sharma, 37, of Vijaypur, nearly 28 kms from here, is one among the 25 crew members of an Egyptian ship held hostage by Somali pirates since August 2, 2010.
It is an endless wait with a glimmer of hope for a woman who is running from pillar to post, seeking safe release of her husband from the clutches of dreaded captives- the Somali pirates.

JAMMU, Mar 21: At least eight persons, including five policemen, were wounded after cops tried to chase away alleged land encroachers at Chhani Himmat here today.

JAMMU, Mar 21: After the death of a woman while delivering a baby at SMGS hospital here today due to the alleged negligence of doctors, her family members staged a protest.
The baby too died soon after the delivery, police sources said, quoting protesters.
Bholi Devi, wife of Kuldeep Singh of Ratanpur, Samba, was admitted to the SMGS hospital Sunday after she developed labour pain. The woman and her baby, however, died during the delivery, which sparked off strong protest, with the family members raising slogans against the doctors and the health authorities.
They alleged that the deaths had taken place due to the alleged negligence of doctors.

JAMMU, Mar 21: Army chief, Gen V K Singh today reviewed the operational preparedness of armed forces in Jammu & Kashmir in the wake of changing environment and security scenario in the state.
Gen Singh, who arrived here on a two-day visit to the state, was received by northern command chief, Lt Gen K T Parnaik and the Chinar Corps GOC, Lt Gen S A Hasnain. He was accompanied by his wife Bharti Singh.
"The army chief reviewed operational preparedness in the valley in view of the changing environment and security scenario," a defence spokesman said.He said Gen Singh also visited the troops deployed in high altitude areas and on the Line of Control in the valley.

JAMMU, Mar 21: Panic gripped Kashmir after a moderate earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit the state Monday.The epicenter of the quake was in the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, according to official sources.
