NEW DELHI, Sept 9: As families and friends struggle for information about the whereabouts of their missing kin in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre has asked the state government to post on its website the list of people rescued from different parts of the state.
Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami said if the list of rescued people is made public, many families will heave sigh of relief on being assured that their loved ones are safe. "That is why we have asked the state government to upload the list of rescued people on its website as early as possible," he told reporters here.

SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Massive rescue operations continued in the flood-hit area of Jammu and Kashmir today even as the death toll crossed 200 in the worst floods that the state has witnessed in the last 60 years.
State-run Pawan Hans Helipoters Limited and private chopper firms have joined the massive rescue operation in the state. Air India has kept two aircrafts on standby to rescue passengers from flooded area and carry relief materials.
From the official Twitter handle, the Indian Army tweeted that over 32,000 people have been saved so far in the state.

NEW DELHI, Sept 9: Telecom services in the flood-hit Kashmir valley are slowly being restored with operators resuming network connectivity in various parts of the region.
Around 58 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) or mobile towers of BSNL and Aircel are functioning now along with 10 landline exchanges of the state-run operator. Vodafone has also been able to restore connectivity in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Srinagar, Anantnag, Qazigund, Mattan, Awantipura and Ashmukam. As usual, I only had heard about flash floods of this kind but this was my first hand encounter with such horrific scene. I was thinking safe in circuit house MLA hostel and never had an iota of water logging so far in hostel and reaching second floor and increasing.
