Early Times Report SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Sept 9: About six lakh people are still believed to be trapped in flood-ravaged Srinagar and south Kashmir. Over 49,000 people have so far been rescued in a massive multi-agency operation and the Centre has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to list their names on its website. Mammoth multi-agency rescue efforts were underway in Jammu and Kashmir today to rescue lakhs of people trapped in flood-ravaged areas, with IAF choppers and transport aircraft undertaking non-stop sorties overnight to carry men and relief material to submerged parts .Two more units of Army and NDRF have been airdropped to Pancheri in Udhampur where 30 people are missing after a landslide hit the area. "Seven bodies and a limb of a person have been so far recovered in Udhampur but the operation to locate those trapped is very difficult," DIG Gareeb Dass said. However, the situation in the rest of Jammu belt has stabilised and the focus is now on providing relief material on the ground, officials said. Centre asks J&K Govt to post list of rescued people

Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Sept 9: As families and friends struggle for information about the whereabouts of their missing kin in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre has asked the state government to post on its website the list of people rescued from different parts of the state. Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami said if the list of rescued people is made public, many families will heave sigh of relief on being assured that their loved ones are safe. Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Massive rescue operations continued in the flood-hit area of Jammu and Kashmir today even as the death toll crossed 200 in the worst floods that the state has witnessed in the last 60 years. State-run Pawan Hans Helipoters Limited and private chopper firms have joined the massive rescue operation in the state. Air India has kept two aircrafts on standby to rescue passengers from flooded area and carry relief materials. Telecom services slowly being restored in Kashmir valley

Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Sept 9: Telecom services in the flood-hit Kashmir valley are slowly being restored with operators resuming network connectivity in various parts of the region. Around 58 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) or mobile towers of BSNL and Aircel are functioning now along with 10 landline exchanges of the state-run operator. Vodafone has also been able to restore connectivity in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Srinagar, Anantnag, Qazigund, Mattan, Awantipura and Ashmukam.
