Hoisting tri-colour: NC-BJP on a warpath | | | NEHA
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 6: One can understand the reasons behind the opposition of the defeated JKLF chairman Yasin Malik to the BJP's decision to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, on the Republic Day. After all, his whole politics is based on hatred and contempt. He and others of his ilk have all through poured venom on secular, democratic and liberal India and worked for the separation of Jammu and Kashmir on the ground that it is a Muslim-majority area. Hence, how could he and others of his ilk tolerate any India-centric activity in Kashmir? It needs to be noted that Malik on Tuesday dared the BJP to go on with the plan and said: "We will see who will hoist which flag."
However, what is disturbing is the mind-boggling stand of the Chief Minister on the BJP's proposed plan. The Chief Minister on Wednesday warned the BJP against decision to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk saying the BJP would be responsible for "repercussions." "Unfortunately the BJP is never happy if there is not fire somewhere or the other. When Kashmir is burning that is also a ...

Jammu, Jan 6: A day after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah cautioned BJP against hoisting the national flag at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Republic Day, BJP's chief rival Congress lost no time in lashing out at the party for what they chose to call as a 'provocative plan'.
"BJP is flourishing on divisive practices... it survives on a policy of dividing the people... they do not do it as a matter of long term politics... they do it only to make a tamasha..." , J&K PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz said today while speaking to media on the sidelines of a party convention in Jammu. | | CM acting like a separatist leader: Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 6: Asserting that Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) will go ahead with its proposed plan of hoisting tricolour at Lal Chowk on January 26, the leader of BJP Legislature party Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today said that by opposing the flag hoisting Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is speaking the language of separatists.
"Instead of initiating action against Yaseen Malik and other separatists who are threatening BJP leadership over its flag hoisting programme, the CM himself is resisting the move thereby indicating that he himself is virtually acting like a separatist leader" Prof Chaman Lal said

| | PDP too unhappy, Bhim Singh terms it as NC-BJP conspiracy | | | ET REPORT
Jammu, Jan 6: Speaking on somewhat similar tone of ruling allies , the main opposition of the state PDP also opposed the scheduled flag hoisting prgramme of youth wing of BJP on Republic Day at Lal Chowk. PDP patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that whenever the BJP was out of power, it resorted to such 'gimmicks'.
Criticising the party, Mufti said that when the BJP was in power, it did not 'talk of abrogation of Article 370 , and now it is raking up the issue while it is out of power.' This is only doublespeak and gimmick of the party, he added.
Pertinent to mention is that almost all parties in Kashmir, including the separatists, have decided to oppos...
| | BJP firm, to go ahead with flag hoisting in Srinagar | | | ET REPORT
Jammu, Jan 6: Not concerned over criticism of ruling as well as opposition parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will go ahead with its plans to hoist the Indian tricolour at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Republic Day. Reacting to the chief minister's assertions on Wednesday that hoisting the Indian national flag at Lal Chowk on Jan 26 would serve as a provocation to the people of Kashmir, the BJP leaders here said that 'Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, and they would go ahead with the plan'. 'We will go ahead wit...
