PDP all set with 'offensive', NC in 'defending' mode, Cong 'silent' | NC worker's custodial death | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2 : Amid the fresh political storm triggered over custodial death of NC worker, while principal opposition PDP is all set with an offensive against ruling rival NC,the latter is preparing itself for a defensive strategy needed at least on the floor of Assembly where the PDP has come up with an adjournment motion on the issue. Major ally in the coalition Congress, as always, has maintained silence, rightly or wrongly, choosing not to become 'trouble shooter' for the partner. There is neither word nor any statement from the Congress colleagues in cabinet for a worried and harried lot of NC. On the contrary, Congress feels the incident has further 'damaged' its image in the state.
Sources said even though the Congress camp in government has chosen silence, the matter entirely and purely of NC as a party, it finds itself on an awkward and uncomfortable footing , in the wake of the fact that PDP is all set to raise a storm in the House and would vehemently rake up the demand of resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah , notwithstanding the fact ...

| | Who is funding anti- India seminars? | CDR Gulmarg Meet -- I | | Neha
JAMMU, Oct 2 : The controversial Delhi-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR) has been organising anti-India seminars in different parts of the country, including Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, for quite sometime now and adopting resolutions and submitting the same to the governments of India and Pakistan which, if considered and accepted, would surely damage India, give legitimacy to the politics of separatism, based on fanaticism, and enable Kashmiri leadership to enslave the unwilling and the already suffering people of Jammu and Ladakh on a permanent basis. All the resolutions which this NGO has adopted thus far are Kashmir-centric and...

"The issue shall be decided by the Congress high command", he said without any ambiguity.
Omar, according to informed sources in the Congress may not be changed but he is under Congress scanner. "The moment Congress high command is convinced that the National Conference le...

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Minister of Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, today made it unambiguously clear on behalf of the state government that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would never step down on the "political drama" PDP, according to him, had enacted over the death of a National Conference (NC) activist, Syed Mohammad Yousuf, here on Friday last. He strongly refuted media reports and some opposition parties' statements which have created an impression that the NC activist had died due to perpetration of physical torture on him at the Chief Minister's residence.

| | Did names of rape victims get disclosed by accident or by intent? | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 2 : How could the state home department, the state law department and the office of the chief minister overlook a fact that an 18-year old boy would have normally detected.
The directions of the Supreme Court are known to everybody who reads a newspaper and how could the blunder have been committed by those who specialize in scrutinizing and sniffing legal documents every day.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah may have apologized over the publication of the rape victims' names but the question now remains who is letting the Chief Minister down so badly. Many within the National Conference believe that time was ripe for some big heads to role as a signal h...

| | Omar has squandered the God-sent opportunity | State Of Anarchy | | Rustam
JAMMU, Oct 2 : Omar Abdullah became Chief Minister on January 5, 2009, notwithstanding the fact that the NC had captured a paltry 28 seats in the 87-member Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. AICC president Sonia Gandhi handed over the state power to him in what she called "national interest". It was a God-sent opportunity for Omar Abdullah in the sense that he was a green-horn in politics, notwithstanding the fact that he had served the BJP-led NDA Government in various capacities, including as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, for some years. Sonia Gandhi had reposed her faith in Omar Abdullah knowing it full well that the latter had created for himself hatred in Jammu an...

| | Appeal to Hon'ble speaker by Shri Chaman Lal Gupta BJP MLA | | | Sir,
I had raised a question during the last session of the state assembly seeking a reply from the government regarding the decision to stop government advertisements to the daily Early Times published from Jammu.
I had also spoken about the highhandedness of the government and its arbitrary, whimsical dispensation regarding distribution of official advertisements to the various newspapers published in the state.
Despite repeated requests, the state government did not come forward with any reply to my question and the result has been that through its decision to ignore my question the state government has covertly accepted that it does not have a reasonable answer to my question.
