Residents accuse police, CRPF of carrying out unprovoked firing
10/3/2013 11:47:28 PM
Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel faced major embarrassment as the militants who got holed up in the Ahmad Nagar locality in the outskirts of summer capital managed to break free the cordon and flee from the site of the encounter that broke out on Wednesday night. Despite reinforcements being sent to the area the holed up militants managed to run away while taking advantage of the darkness in the area during the preceding night. Some of the reports said that a top ranking Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant commander Abu Huzaifa was one of the trapped militants and he along with his associates managed to flee. However, the reports could not be confirmed since police remained tight lipped over the incident and not willing to share details. Reports said that police and CRPF personnel cordon...
