Srinagar, Nov 18: In a major "land scam", at least two leaders from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have allegedly grabbed government land in north Kashmir's Baramulla district by land-filling a "waterbody".
Official sources said the wife of a senior PDP leader and a lawmaker in the state legislature, who is also a prominent "land broker", have gone for "secret real estate deal", whereby they got a huge chunk of wetland and other government land "illegally mutated" in their names in Singhpora area of Baramulla.
As per some revenue officials, the land which has been grabbed by the PDP leaders was a waterbody for centuries. "For decades this waterbody was a blessing for the people and village women would often assemble here, but now these influential PDP leaders are grabbing the natural resource," the officials said.

JAMMU, Nov 18: A former Member Parliament has allegedly grabbed land in a posh area of Srinagar.
The ex-MP has "illegally occupied several acres of land in the summer capital, which otherwise belonged to a poor farmer."
The farmer alleged that he had approached every authority for justice, but to no avail. "Revenue Department, the district administration, and the minister concerned-all disappointed me," the farmer said.
"I am a poor farmer and the land which I had been tilling for many decades is now occupied by a powerful politician. Nobody is ready to intervene. I have all relevant documents to prove that the land belongs to me," he said.

Before 2005, sources said, the previous committee had kept two permanent shops for Samba apex body in the first floor of Handloom Complex. But the present committee has sold the two shops.

jammu, Nov 18: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has refused to allow Jammu and Kashmir government to grant special concessions to the Kashmiri traders and businessmen who have been hit hard by the continuous strikes in Kashmir valley since May 8, 2016.
Since the Jammu and Kashmir government has not declared any area riot-hit, RBI has outrightly said that there is no reason to consider request of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) of Jammu and Kashmir.
