Jammu: Youth wing of All India Kashmiri Samaj, an organisation of Kashmiri Pandits which was upbeat about the convention it had organised today, feels betrayed as the 'guests' from the state government including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah did not turn up till late in the evening. The venue of the function which was 'spruced up' with all nieceties of requisite decorum and protocol, besides gala security arranagements, was abuzz with activity and huge participation of the community members, remained conspicuous with the absence of the guest dignitaries till it concluded.
"It is a betrayal with the community and youth in particular who were aspiring strongly about yound Chief Minister's presence in the convention", said one of the leaders ,reflecting annoyance and resnetment as to why CM despite having given consent 'betrayed' the organisation in the last hour. Separatist leaders in Valley on main stream path | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, JULY 1: Feeling isolated after the growing mass resentment against the violence and gun culture the separatist leaders in Kashmir are left with no alternative except to chose the same path which the majority opinion wants them to tread.
Instead of talking of separatism and secessionism the separatist leadership in Valley have decided to enter the main stream politics and tread on the same path which has been chosen by the traditional politicians of the Valley like the leaders of National Conference (NC), Congress and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
The growing resentment among the masses against the separatism, gun culture and over 21 year long turmoil which led ...
| | Clock tower without a watch! | `It lost its importance this year’ | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1 : The clock tower at Lal Chowk in the summer capital lost its importance this year. Nobody tries to `conquer’ it to prove his strength or to make a political statement. The tower was a hot spot for the separatists and main-stream politicians last year. Both wanted to conquer it to prove their strength (if not worth).
The government seemed desperate to keep the clock tower `out of bounds’ especially for the separatists, the curbs imposed to ensure its `protection’ every now and then subjected the commoner to inconvenience.
Pertinent to mention, the clock tower has no historical importance. It came up in early 80s and became politically important in 19...
| | What an irony! BJP supports, Panthers oppose rehabilitation policy | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 1: No one had ever imagined that the Panthers Party of Bhim Singh would oppose the return to Kashmir and rehabilitation of the Pakistan-based hardcore terrorists of Kashmiri origin in the Valley, but it has sprang a big surprise by opposing the rehabilitation policy tooth and nail. Similarly, no one had ever expected that the BJP would extend unflinching support to the militants’ rehabilitation policy but it sprang a big surprise by supporting it.
Hitherto, the Panthers Party used to demand general amnesty and had not really opposed the rehabilitation policy. Similarly, the BJP had not even once till June 28 supported the rehabilitation policy. In fact, ...

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1- Although this year’s annual Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Amarnath has begun with thousands of enthusiastic pilgrims undertaking the Yatra with full religious fervor, the official management of this sacred pilgrimage leaves much to be desired.
Confusion, lack of coordination, lack of basic facilities at the two base camps and overcrowding are posing serious threats to the smooth conduct of this year’s Yatra.
Only yesterday, over six thousands pilgrims started shouting slogans against the authorities in north Kashmir Baltal camp for the chaos and confusion that is being witnessed at the base camp these days.
On the first day, officials said 5...

RUSTAM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 1: Out-on-the-limb and frustrated APHC chairman Miwaiz Umar Farooq has again crossed the line by saying that he is willing to discuss everything with New Delhi in order to resolve the so-called Kashmir issue. He has also ruled out the possibility of re-unification of his outfit and the one headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Tehrik-e-Hurriyat and this is understandable. For, in the re-unification lies his destruction. After all, he, like other Kashmiri separatists, do not believe in the old saying “United we stand, divided we fall.” He, like other separatists, believe in the newly-coined dictum: “Divided we stand, united we fall.” And, h...

MINCING NO WORDS -- I
NEHA
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 1: The support-base of the Congress is shrinking across the country and shrinking very fast. People are turning towards other parties. The Congress has become so unpopular.
The outcome of the assembly elections in the five state of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducheery, Kerala and Assam, held in April-May this year, indicated the people’s no confidence in and contempt for the Congress. The Congress was completely wiped out both in Tamil Nadu and Puducheery. In West Bengal, Congress could capture some odd 50 seats. Courtesy: Mamta Bannerjee and her Trinamool Congress. In Kerala, the Congress scored victory over the Left by just ...
