JAMMU, Jan 4: Now that the former APHC chairman, Abdul Ghani Bhat, has publicly said that Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq, Abdul Gani Lone and his brother Prof Muhammad Sultan Bhat were killed by "our own men" and that "what is the need to identify them (killers), as they are already identified", it is an appropriate time to take some credible against them to establish the rule of law and send a message across the state that persons found involved in heinous acts and seditious activities would face stringent action in case they refused to behave. Bhat set the record straight while addressing the JKLF-sponsored seminar on "Role of intellectuals in the freedom struggle" on Sunday in Srinagar.
What he said in the presence of almost all the separatist leaders, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, reads like this: "No police was involved (in the killings). Moosa and his accomplices are held responsible for the killing of TA jawans -- Mohammad Sharief and Mohammad Khalil -- in Kharawa forests on January 1.

Jammu, Jan 4: After commending India and Pakistan for announcing a cease-fire on January 1, 1949 the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) unanimously passed another resolution on January 5. The resolution also sought protection of minorities.
The resolution curtailed the right to self determination of the people of Jammu Kashmir. As per this resolution, the people can decide between India and Pakistan if and when a referendum is held.
The resolution also stressed need for demilitarization as sought in its earlier resolution dated August 13, 1948. Protection of minorities was sought as well.

SRINAGAR, Jan 4: A Nigerian national was under police scanner while four other persons were arrested in the first case of cyber bank fraud in the valley. Four persons, including two Mumbai residents, were apprehended last week in connection with a case of bank fraud caused by cyber hacking in which Rs 3.25 lakh were swindled from three accounts in Kashmir. "It is the first case of its kind in the Valley. The first cyber related bank fraud case carried out in Kashmir by using tampered credit cards which are cloned and linked," said SSP, Srinagar, Ashiq Bukhari.

| | Man killed in car mishap | | | JAMMU: A retired army captain was killed after the car, he was driving, skidded off the road and plunged into a nullah at Rownd Domail in Udhampur last night.
Police sources said retired army captain Raminder Singh was going home at Majalta from Udhampur when his car fell into the nullah at Rownd Domail at about 7.30 pm, resulting in critical injuries to him.
