More skeletons come out as CBI takes up probe of 'mess' at DDK Srinagar
Shami Shair produces fake beneficiaries, receives huge payments
10/30/2013 11:15:32 PM
Jahangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Oct 30: More and more skeletons are coming out of cupboard as the Srinagar office of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the mess at Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar that has been going at the station for the last few years. Sources told Early Times that the CBI is presently probing the role of former Station Director, Shami Shair in allotment of programmes. As serious allegations of corruption have been leveled against Shami the CBI is checking the veracity of such allegations. Some cases of corruption are already pending with CBI and the investigations have already been taken up. "Deputy Director General DDG Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi who is presently posted in Delhi has been roped in as expert by the CBI. Dr. Masoodi has been asked to explain the procedure in allotting programmes to the outside producers since that issue has been hogging centre stage at the station for years now," said the sources. Sources said that records, registers and files on which CBI acted against Shami in the past have gone mysteriously missing leaving investigating ag...

BJP's Refugee Adhikaar Yatra: Senior leaders unenthusiastic......
Tepid response a calibrated move….?
10/30/2013 11:15:20 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 30: Even as the BJP's Refugee Adhikaar Yatra is progressing well, having covered a number of places that matter for the party during the past over a week, entire hierarchy is not showing keen interest in the participation nor are the leaders who matter within the state unit upbeat about the Yatra going on smoothly amid a good response. As some leaders and key functionaries are choosing to stay away or keep themselves off the fervor generated at many places, their calibrated participation is being seen as deliberately not cooperating with the state president who is leading the Yatra, for a larger cause of refugees. Sources within the party ...

While joining Congress on October 21, Mohammad Aslam Goni had stated that a large number of dedicated NC workers are feeling suffocated and they are looking for other options. Dr Harmesh Singh is not a known political figure but he had played important role in ensuring victory of NC candidate from Vijaypur segment. CM's directions defied with impunity
RTI awareness amongst masses
10/30/2013 11:14:48 PM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 30: Directions of the Chief Minister to make people, especially those from far flung areas aware about the provision of the RTI Act in order to infuse more transparency in government functioning have been defied blatantly. The Government not only has miserably failed to undertake these awareness programs for the residents of J&K but even the Government officials haven't been trained to understand the provisions of J&K RTI Act 2009 since the enactment of RTI law in J&K. The Section 23 of J&K RTI Act 2009 lays emphasis on RTI Awareness and directs the Government to undertake such programmes. Even the Government issued a circular in this regard on the direc...

Govt slashes down City expense budget
10/30/2013 11:14:24 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 30: The state government has decreased the City expense budget in Jammu this year, which led the Roads and Building (R&B) department to repair the city roads with patch work only. The residents of the winter capital of the state, who were eagerly waiting for darbar move, so that the city would get a better shape, are disappointed with R&B department for doing only patchwork on all the roads of the city. Shaken NC starts rumor mongering about PDP, Cong
10/30/2013 11:14:12 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 30: National Conference reflected its nervousness on being on a slippery political wicket by trying to create confusion in the rank and file of People’s Democratic Party, the principal opposition party and the main challenger of NC especially in Kashmir. A NC leader said that about half-a-dozen PDP MLAs are about to leave the party and based his presumption on a strange figment of imagination rather than real political reasons. NC leaders based his theory of trifurcation of PDP on his assumption that since PDP patron Mufti SayEed has roots in Cong, liking for BJP and claims to messiah of people. Devender Rana though presumed that Mufti only took advantage f...

Yet another bad news for the Congress
Pre-poll survey
10/30/2013 11:13:51 PM
Rustam JAMMU, Oct 30: Indeed, a very strong anti-Congress wave is sweeping the country. The findings of the pre-poll survey, which was conducted by the CSDS between October 14 and 21 for news channel IBN7 and THE WEEK magazine in the poll bound states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan clearly suggest that while the BJP has become the popular choice, the Congress has lost the people's confidence. On October 28, the IBN7 broadcasted the findings of the pre-poll survey conducted in MP and Rajasthan, which clearly said that the BJP will not only win the assembly elections in these two states for the third time in a row but would also improve its position. In MP, according to the...

10/30/2013 11:13:38 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 30: Sheikh Abdullah, the tallest political figure, used to say that Kashmir has been converted into a playfield for international conspiracies. When he was heard saying so Kashmir was really being used by the US, UK, Russia and other European nations as a playfield for carrying out various experiments. The end of the Sheikh era has given a chance to state level political leaders to experiment with their cherished ideas for what they call settlement of the Kashmir issue. The latest sermon on the matter has come from Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who is otherwise known for supporting one idea after the other for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. Omar has c...
