Omar's greatest onslaught on Indian democracy | Hanging Of Guru | | Rustam
JAMMU, Sept 1: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who has been making outrageous statements and subverting the constitution he is constitutionally bound to defend ever since January 5, 2009, has again landed himself into a serious controversy. Omar Abdullah became Chief Minister by a quirk of history on January 5, 2009. The case in point is his suggestion that Afzal Guru, convicted in the 2001 Parliament attack case, be released in the interest of peace in Kashmir. This writer has already written three pieces on this subject explaining the grave implications of what he said about the issue some eight days ago as far as the unity and integrity of India was concerned. Reflecting on the Afzal Guru issue, he had revealed that he had already talked to the Congress-led UPA Government in this regard and urged it to take into consideration the larger issue before taking a final position on Afzal Guru. Omar Abdullah had made this revelation at a time when Syed Ali Shah Geelani had already held out a threat that hanging of Afzal Guru would create in the Valley a situation that New Delhi wi...

| | “Induction of “yes men” in Apex Committee is aimed at playing with interests of KPs” | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 1: Though the Apex Committee on Kashmiri migrants has failed to take up the genuine issues of the displaced Pandits with the Government for their immediate redressal, the State Government has recently expanded the Committee by inducting some more ``yes men'' into it to further its return formula and plan for displaced pundits.
The failure of Kashmiri Pandits to forge unity and mushrooming of the parties in the community has made a mess of Apex Committee as every Pandit organization having no base on ground also approaches the authorities to give representation to its group in the Apex as the same being the only genuine representative of the community.

Poonch, Sept 1: Known otherwise as a strong political bastion of the ruling National Conference (NC), the party is fast losing ground in Jammu's green belt districts of Rajouri and Poonch. This is attributed to the unstable and mercurial stands taken on critical issues by the NC leaders. Presently the NC is under fire in these districts for Dr. Farooq Abdullah's comments on Narendra Modi, the Gujarat Chief Minister.
Although the election is three years away, the NC is facing extreme criticism from the Muslims on the issue and it is widely believed in Rajouri and Poonch districts that the disparagement of the NC patron and former chief minister could prove fatal for the...
| | BJP of press conferences and vague statements | Plight of Duggar Pradesh | | Neha
JAMMU, Sept 1: The state unit of the BJP says day in and day out that it is for the nation, as also it is a party that always fight for the genuine cause of Duggar Pradesh. It's not true. What it says is simply an exercise in self-deception. It is not really and unequivocally committed to the national cause. Nor is it actually committed to the cause of Duggar Pradesh. It is just like Congress, the NC and the PDP. It is basically a party of press conferences and statements and it believes that its only job is to react when some development takes place in the state or when the Kashmiri leadership perpetrates some injustice on the oppressed and suppressed Dogras.
