JAMMU, Mar 9: With observations and recommendations of the task force on the development of Jammu and Kashmir gathering dust in the office of the heads of centre and the state government, recently released report of another expert group is likely to meet the same fate.
Reasons are obvious. Both the reports have been penned down by ace economist and Chairman of Prime Minister’s economic advisory council Dr C. Rangarajan along with experts, mostly based in New Delhi or elsewhere in the country. Both the groups were constituted by Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and both met respective Chief Minister’s of Jammu and Kashmir before finalizing their respective reports.
Task force on the development of Jammu and Kashmir was constituted by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on March 29, 2005. It held eight meetings in all between April 2005 and October 2006. Jammu, March 9: Following allegations of bribe charges and corruption which resounded in a ‘dramatic’ manner in the state Assembly today, Jammu and Kashmir Government today ordered the suspension of Assistant Regional Transport Office Doda. The allegations were made by the BJP legislator Jagdish Raj Sapolia that no norms were adhered in issuing route permits in the districts of Doda and Kishtwar.

JAMMU, Mar 09: A reserve police wing cop was today wounded critically after his service rifle went off under mysterious circumstances at district police lines (DPL) here and the bullet pierced through his chin.
Cop Murtaza Ali of Mendhar had lunch at DPL mess and was coming down the stairs when his rifle went off all of a sudden. The bullet pierced his chin and came out of his forehead, injuring him seriously, police sources said.

Jammu, Mar 9: If a video clip circulated widely in Kashmir is genuine then Major Avtaar Singh may not be extradited notwithstanding the claims of the Jammu Kashmir Police to the contrary. The video conveys that Major Avtaar is on US Radaar but shall not be extradited as New Delhi has not sought his extradition.

JAMMU, Mar 09: A youth was today apprehended by Chinore police for allegedly opening fire at a car-borne man at Roop Nagar here Tuesday night.
Police sources said Mohit Mehra had a scuffle with Akash of Sharika Vihar near Lower Roop Nagar, Karan Singh Choudhary of Kullian, R S Pura, and Vicky of Khajuria Mohalla, Paloura, Tuesday at about 11.30 pm.
Following heated exchanges between the two sides, the three youth fired at Mehra from a pistol. He, however, had a narrow escape as the bullet missed the target, the sources added.

Two persons were killed and 30 others injured when a bus, carrying a marriage party, skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge at Sananghat in Basohli tehsil of Kathua district, police said here today.
In the mishap which occurred last night, nine-year-old Tanantar Singh and driver of the bus Rakesh Kumar were killed on the spot, while 30 others were injured, they said.

JAMMU, Mar 09: Two persons were today arrested by police for selling LPG cylinders at their respective residences at Digiana here in black.
They were identified as Johar Singh and Yashpal Singh. Both of them were found selling LPG cylinders at exorbitant rates, DSP Mohan Lal Kaith said.
