CM writes to PM, seeks return of 3 senior IAS officers | Chief Secretary's valiant bid to resurrect 'dream team' | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
JAMMU, May 6: In a valiant bid to resurrect his dream team, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has written a letter to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh seeking return of three IAS officers of J&K cadre, who are presently on central deputation.
Sources said that the letter has been written at the insistence of Chief Secretary Madhav Lal, who is facing acute shortage of IAS officers. They added that Chief Minister has requested Prime Minister who also heads the Ministry Of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions to relieve three officers namely Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Arun Kumar Mehta and Pradeep Tripathi at the earliest from central deputation.
Keeping in view the shortage of officers that the state is facing presently, Omar has urged for reversion of these three officers. Of these three, only 1986 batch IAS officer Rakesh Kumar Gupta's tenure of central deputation came to end on February 15, 2011. However, J&K's plans of requisitioning his services have been summarily rejected by UPSC Chairman, under whom Rakesh is currently working as Additional Secretary.

| | Congress likely to pay a heavy price for its negative attitude | | | Neha
JAMMU, May 6: The Congress has, it seems, lost the invaluable opportunity which the BJP and the Panthers Party provided to it on a platter by violating the mandate and voting in favour of the parties the Dogras of Jammu province considered as anti-Jammu and pro-Kashmir and separatist-friendly. The action on the part of the BJP and the Panthers Party had infuriated the Dogras to the extent that the leaders of these two parties did not dare to come on to the streets and mingle with the estr...

The appeasement policy of the central govt is responsible for all the problems in the country. The decision taken by BAYN to start yatra as per tradition from June 15 is a welcome step in right direction and the Government should not put hurdles any more. It should be a full year affair like Badrinath, Vaishnodevi etc....

National Conference is a secular party and has equal regard for all religious. Party has never interfared in religious matters. | | Amarnath Yatra is unique in many ways | | | Kashmir is God's own land as a result it is a land teeming with shrines and places of worship. In the words of native historian Pandit Kalhana, who wrote in the middle of 12th century A.D, there is (here) not a space as large as a seasamum seed that has not a shrine or place of worship on it. Among these shrines is world famous cave shrine of Swami Amarnath ji unique in many ways is visited by lakhs of people within and outside the country.
Curtailing yatra by 15 days this year has been viewed seriously by the devotees throughout the country and have terms it as a big conspiracy....
| | Let New Delhi and Army follow "silence before you act"principle | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 6: Was it necessary for the Army Chief, Gen. V.K. Singh, to announce India's capability of carrying out Abottabad type operation? Did he not envisage the strong reaction from the establishment in Islamabad? Those who criticise the Army Chief say "the US never boasted of its capability of carrying out kill Osama operation on the soil of Pakistan. It made public the contours of the Abbotabad operation only after its commandos completed the task."
Political analysts are of the opinion that politicians, bureaucrats and senior Army functionaries in India have shown their taste for issuing verbal reactions to any action. They have not learnt to imitate Chinese pol...

JAMMU, May 6: Around seven months ago, the Chief Minister constituted a panel headed by finance minister, Abdul Rahim Rather to consider Justice Sageer's recommendations. The panel will complete seven months on May 13. No report has been submitted till date.
A few questions arise. Why was the panel constituted at a time when New Delhi had appointed interlocutors? The interlocutors have submitted their recommendations and are expected to meet the Home Minister next week. Th...
