Early Times Report srinagar, July 4: While dancing to the tune of mainstream politicians in Jammu and Kashmir and keeping their organizational patrons in New Delhi in good humour with everything from cash to kind, Kashmiri officials of Doordarshan have managed their stay in the home state for years and decades together in brazen disregard to transfer policy. Even as 50 out of 64 stations in the country are currently headless and are being looked after by engineers or programme executives as a stop-gap arrangement, there are as many as four officers of the rank of Station Director at Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar. Established nearly 60 years ago, DD has now 21 major Kendras, 29 Kendras and 14 Programme Generation Facilities (PGFs) in the country. Each of these stations is supposed to be headed by an officer of the rank of Station Director. Early Times Report JAMMU, July 4: With lull in the rainfall, administration today allowed pilgrim towards Amarnath cave shrine from Pahalgam and Baltal after remaining suspended for two days due to inclement weather. Officials said that nearly 20,000 pilgrims left the base camp in Kashmir to pay obeisance at holy Cave shrine. Meanwhile, yatra also resumed from the Jammu base camp as a fresh batch of 6,564 pilgrims left for the cave shrine from here. Car claims motorcyclist's life

EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU,July 4: A motorcyclist, who was Friday last hit by a car at Tara Chak near Arnia in Bishnah, succumbed to his injuries at the GMC hospital here today. Amarjeet Singh, son of Bua Ditta of Tara Chak, was driving his motorcycle when a car (JK02G/4801), hit him, resulting in serious injuries to him. He was admitted to the GMC hospital where he died today. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family for last rites. SPO flees with weapons in Rajouri

EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, July 4: One of the four special police officers (SPOs), who were allegedly beaten by DSP (operations, Rajouri) few days back, today deserted police. SPO Manzoor Hussain fled the area along with his official weapon, police sources said. He was allegedly beaten by the DSP for passing on wrong information about the movement of militants in the area. Sources said he was terminated from service and a manhunt had been launched in his search. EARLY TIMES REPORT srinagar, July 4: Six more pilgrims including two women died of natural causes at various halting stations en route Amarnath cave shrine, raising the death toll during the ongoing yatra to 18, officials said on Monday. While four of the deceased were from Uttar Pradesh, one person was a resident of Gujarat. EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 4: The death of a woman and her young son due to the alleged failure of government medical college hospital (GMCH) doctors today triggered protests by their relatives. Tripta Devi (50), wife of Sunil Kumar of Ganganagar, Bantalab, and her son Hemant Kumar (25) were admitted to the government hospital, Sarwal, about two days back after they complained of pain in stomach. From the Sarwal hospital, they were referred to the GMCH where Tripta died Sunday at about 7 pm and Hemant at about 1 am. While the woman worked with BSNL, her son was said to be a physiotherapist.
