TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Can Omar have the last laugh?
6/19/2011 12:05:44 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 18: Notwithstanding Prime Minister's assurance of a full term, Omar Abdullah seems disturbed by the demand of rotational Chief Ministership. The assurance, according to, Congress workers is meaningless. "It is to be decided b y the party and not by the Prime Minister", they said. The Prime Minister will find it easy to implement his roadmap if a person like Omar Abdullah is at the helm of affairs for six years. However, Kashmir watchers hold a contrary view. According to them, a person like Omar Abdullah who last year challenged the totality of accession can pose problems for Manmohan Singh in the long run. Pertinent to mention here Omar Abdullah while addressing the Legislative assembly last year said Kashmir was an international dispute. The statement caused a strom in the sub-continent but helped Omar in taming gullible Kashmiris. So Omar, Kashmir watchers feel, is not a good choice for any roadmap seeking settlement within Indian constitution in future. Omar is likely to get support from some quarters within Congress when the party finally si...

But Omar posted an appeal on Twitter seeking a day off. Omar is just back from New Delhi. He met the Prime Minister who assured him a full term. A relaxed Omar, therefore, wants to go for a holiday. Early Times Report Jammu, June 18: The state Government in general and Chief Minister,Omar Abdullah, in particular are so much elated over the finalisation of the annual plan of the size of Rs.6600 crores that efforts were being made to convene the District Development Board meetings as early as possible for finalising the district plans, which are usually finalised by the "babus" in the civil secretariat. 6/19/2011 12:02:44 AM
Rustam EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, June 18: Only the other day, spokesperson of National Conference termed senior Congress leader and former Union Minister ML Fotedar as "snake" and accused him of conspiring against Omar Abdullah and the party to which he belongs. The spokesman used these harsh words against Fotedar because he exposed the National Conference and Sheikh Abdullah, saying Abdullah recaptured political power after accepting the supremacy of the Indian Constitution. To be more precise, Fotedar set the record straight by virtually saying that Sheikh Abdullah compromised his ideology for the sake of personal power and profit. It was this - apart from the Fotedar's assertion that ...
