Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Mar 25: National Hydroelectric Project Corporation (NHRC) which has been major stake in Jammu and Kashmir's Hydroelectricity generations has 584 litigations including four criminal liabilities, with financial implication of Rs 5.9 million pending in various courts across the country. Official documents, copies of which are with Early Times affirm that NHPC is involved in four criminal liabilities, with the financial implication of Rs 5.9 million. They unveil that there are nine environmental litigations against the company in relation to its completed and ongoing projects, the financial liability of which is not quantified. There are 81 arbitration proceedings pending against NHPC. There are 146 civil cases filed against NHPC and 9 civil cases filed against NHDC by various entities including construction contractors, and the aggregate value of the claims amounts to Rs 698 million, plus interest. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 25: The government on Friday said that the State has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 8650 crore on account of failure to implement bilateral agreement between Punjab and JK over Thein Dam Hydroelectric project in the state. In a written reply to the question of PDP MLA, AR Veeri in Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, said that J&K has suffered Rs 8650 crore losses due to non-implementation of bilateral agreement between J&K and Punjab drawn in January 1979 over Thein Dam project in Kathua district of the state. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 25 : Atleast 11 persons were today wounded after a bus in which they were travelling overturned at Sagar in Mendhar area of Poonch. Police sources said with 40 passengers on board, the bus (JK02D-5057) was on its way to Sagar from Mendhar. Soon after it left the Mendhar bus stand, driver Tanveer Ahmed lost control over it as a result of which it turned turtle in the middle of the road, leaving at least 11 passengers wounded, two of them critically.
