Sagar defends diversion of funds from Kashmir to Jammu
PDP, CPI (M) stage walkout over diversion of Rs 30 Cr CRF
3/27/2011 12:26:08 AM
Ahmed Ali Fayyaz JAMMU, Mar 26: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Minister incharge Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar, today found himself in the eye of a storm over diversion of Central Road Fund allocation worth Rs 30 Cr from Kashmir valley to Jammu division. Valley-based opposition parties, including PDP and CPI (M), staged a walkout from Legislative Assembly over the controversial decision of Public Works Department, currently functioning under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, but Sagar asserted in defence that diversion had become a necessity to protect flow of the central funds to Jammu & Kashmir. With the beginning of Zero Hour, leader of the principal opposition party, PDP, Mehbooba Mufti sought Speaker's attention to a recent Government order whereby CRF funds to the tune of Rs 30 Cr have been diverted from Srinagar to Jammu. She questioned shifting of funds from R&B Department Kashmir to R&B Department Jammu and called it "grave injustice to the people of Kashmir". Today's Greater Kashmir had carried a story on diversion of the CR...

Mubarak Mandi
3/26/2011 11:12:32 PM
NEHA EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 26: Mubarak Mandi for the Dogras is like Konarak; Elphanta, Ajanta and Alora Caves, India Gate, Red Fort, to mention only a few, are for the people of the country as a whole and, hence, the very idea of constructing a five Star hotel in the Mubarak Mandi complex is just outrageous. Can you think of constructing a hotel within the premises of Red Fort, where the Indian National Army of Subhas Chandra Bose was tried for the simple reason that it had brought off a spectacular revolt against the British rule and achieve independence for India? You just can’t. Those who are thinking of constructing a Five Star hotel within the premises of the historic Mubarak...

As Mohali encounter draws nearer
3/26/2011 11:07:43 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 26: The police seem determined to ensure peace in the Valley on Wednesday when Pakistan play India in the semi-final of the ICC world cup at Mohali. An appeal by the police urging CRPF and the general public to display `sportsman spirit’ during the much awaited encounter; reflects the desperation of the police. It also reflects the fragility of the peace that the police claim to have restored to the trouble torn Valley. The sale of fire crackers has registered an all time high during the past few days in Srinagar. The people and the CRPF personnel posted at various locations in the city are busy purchasing crackers. Pertinent to mention some people in ol...
