J&K approach akin to New Delhi, no change visible on ground
Return and Rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits-II
7/7/2011 11:01:32 AM
Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Jul 6: With union government unable to put in place proper policy for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits back in Kashmir valley, much has moved on papers but on ground, things continue to be where they were in 1990. Ironically, while Babus in New Delhi reply more on inputs from left and right for framing policies, respective government in Jammu and Kashmir despite being on ground Zero have preferred taking dictation from New Delhi. No records are available to suggest that J&K government ever took steps on ground to create cordial atmosphere for return and rehabilitation of exiled Kashmir Pandits. Of late, J&K government has also been unable to take concrete steps for changing the status-quo vis-à-vis return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. Separatists have been making loud noises but their influence has not been of any help in preventing sell-out and encroachment of properties belonging to distressed Pandit community. They have not been forthcoming in even getting the encroachment through the following which they claim to have across Ka...

'Attempt to distort history by pseudo intellectuals'
7/7/2011 1:30:47 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, July 6 : BJP is again on warpath with the 'Kashmir friendly' civil society activism, this time under attack being AG Noorani, who is considered to be 'expert' on Kashmir . Ironically at a time when the party is celebrating his 111th birth anniversary, Noorani has stirred up a controversy that late Shyama Prasad Mukherjee , veteran leader , had consented Article 370. Noorani has said this in his book which is to be release on July 14. This excerpt , however , he has chosen to 'leak' to the media much before the book gets released . Enraged, BJP says he is trying to seek publicity by presenting 'distorted and imaginary versions' far from facts. BJP in particular ...

Media is the watchdog, it can't be selective & biased
Discrimination: Jammu VS Kashmir
7/7/2011 1:24:54 AM
Neha EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 6: Media is the watchdog. Its fundamental duty is to report fairly with suitable and appropriate comments. It is also the duty of the media to present an accurate picture of facts so that the people know the whole truth. It just can't take sides. It would be a black day if the media, instead of reporting fairly and fearlessly, decides to take sides and adopts a selective and biased approach to the issues facing the people. It is indeed unfortunate that a section of the Kashmir-based print media has unleashed a misinformation campaign to create an impression that while Kashmir is being discriminated against, Jammu province is being given preferential tr...
